Gift Guide - Wish List

Dear Santa, Here are the items on my wish list!! I know some thoughts are a stretch (the Cartier watch for example) but a girl game dream, right?
Most of the shops that I've linked to are having amazing sales today!

1. Ahh, J. Crew , you never disappoint. J.Crew is having a 30% off entire site today.
2. I live in classic jackets with jeans and fitted pants during the chilly season.
3. I really want the Tory Burch blanket but for now it's sold out. I dream of owning a Hermes throw for my new living room.
4. I will own one someday. I'll most likely buy it for myself! :)
5. I adore the C. Wonder fox belt buckle (they have it in the store) but this heart is pretty cute too!
6. Big bauble rings are a staple in my jewel box.
7. It's time for a new wallet. Mine is pretty beat up.
8. These earrings are a steal. Everything at Ann Taylor is 40% off today!!
9. I'm ditching my old silverware! It was my ex's, no thanks! Thinking I would like gold this time.
10. Can't go wrong with a classic Burberry scarf.
11. These Sorel boots would get lots of use in Boston.

Happy Friday, Happy Shopping! xx

Giving Thanks......

I want to take a moment to thank all my loyal readers, clients, boyfriend, family and friends for your support, warm wishes and love all year round! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! One thing that I've truly learned over the past year is that the frame of mind in which you begin each day with can really change not only your outlook on life but the outcome! Below I've shared some holiday table inspiration. I tried to include a look for everyone. Tory's (image 1) table setting is one of my faves.......

I'm excited to kick of the holiday season with you! xx

Loving....

I'm constantly inspired by the world around me. Anyone who hires me knows that I'm continually trying to think out of the box and bring my designs to the next level. Each month (would love it to be week) I like to set aside some time to draw inspiration from blogs, magazines and websites. This a.m. I came across the work of designers Parker-Kennedy. I love their punchy style and the blended old and new aesthetic. It is a style I often include in my work. Here's a sampling of their projects. Enjoy!

Holiday Cocktails

'Tis the season for entertaining! Setting up a holiday bar for friends and family is the perfect way to add a glamorous moment to your festivities this season. My choices were loosely inspired by the photo above! Simply add an array of liquor, munchies and mixers to this layout and you'll be ready for the perfect party.

Thoughts on home.....

Here's a picture of my new home when I purchased it this summer. The entrance needs a little bit of love. So far we've ripped the three dated bushes out and removed the fake flowers. Here's my punch list for the rest of the transformation:

- I'm planning to paint the front door within the next week or two. I'm either going with a pale aqua or a bright coral shade. I'm still debating the choice but am leaning towards an aqua hue because my home faces the marsh and is five minutes from the beach!

- Add a new entrance light and house numbers
- Repaint the house in a paler grey shade
- Add a new full length "updated" storm door
- Add a door knocker in either brass or bright nickel. (love both) I kind of love how clean the nickel looks on Miles aqua door below. (image one)
- Add new plantings. Boxwood etc.....
- Add an updated walkway, stairs
- Lose the dated metal hand railings

Since I'm painting the door first I thought I'd share my inspirational images. Do you have a favorite?? If so, I'd love to hear your thoughts! xx
Once I choose a color, I'll be sure to share the name and after photos!!

Love the look

Happy Friday! I don't know about you but I'm about ready to pour myself a glass of wine. (this is a late afternoon post not an am one!) It's getting chilly here in Boston! I've been breaking out my booties and coats over the past couple of weeks. I've put together a casual, comfy "love the look" post today. This is pretty much what I'll be wearing this weekend. xx

Shelter Loves

I'm getting pretty excited for the Thanksgiving and the holiday season this year. Are you?
I'm going to begin posting my bi-weekly gift guides the week after Thanksgiving! Here's what I've been loving this week.......

1. I'm actually going to set up my new design office with my assistant and boyfriend in a couple of weeks. I've got some design decisions to make including the wall color, rug choice etc. I'd like to keep a crisp white palette with pops of bright color and gold as an accent. I'm also going with white IKEA side by side desks and rolling file storage. Look for my design concept board next week. Matty is going to be sharing the office space with us too so I would like to keep it fairly gender neutral. ;)
2. AMEN, Tom Petty!
3. 'Tis the season for bubbly. I love how champagne can make an everyday occasion feel so special! I've never tried it with a sugary gold rim but after spying this image I may have to.
4. My dear friend Sarah of Valentine blog used this paper for her daughter's playroom. I've had my eye on it ever since. It's precious. Purchase it by the roll here.
5. I'm refraining from buying much for myself these days (except for housewares like sinks, tile and faucets for my renovation ) but this bauble may be needed as an accent to my holiday attire.
6. These leopard loafers will make my holiday Christmas list for sure!

Hope you're having a great week! xx

Inspired!

Good Afternoon! I was over on Sadie and Stella's blog this am. She shares three beautiful holiday table ideas. I had never seen the second one, so I decided to pop over to Style Me Pretty for all the deets. This setting could beautifully inspire a Thanksgiving day table. I'm loving the unexpected autumn floral bouquets. (it may be difficult to find peonies this time of year, but the mix of deep purple with deep green, peach and gold is stunning)

Love the Look

Happy Friday!! I definitely have a soft spot for girlie details in design and fashion! I dressed as a ballet dancer for Halloween. Now I understand why my three year old loves to wear her tutu's over her leggings so much. This skirt would be a great addition to your wardrobe and would steal the show at any holiday soiree! In fact, I may need to snatch it up myself!!

One Room Challenge - Week 6

Today is the final week and reveal day for the One Room Challenge! Wow, that went quick. All the bloggers listed below have been working hard on their spaces. They all turned out beautifully and are unique in their own way. Be sure to pop over to the blogs below for all the fabulousness!!

Here's the scoop on my room, it is not finished up yet - whomp, whomp..... I signed on for this challenge before I knew I was going to be out of town and off to NYC for a week. I really wanted to finish the space up for not only this challenge but for myself. I have learned that maybe I shouldn't have taken on the challenge while trying to renovate an entire home and while working full time. I promise I'll share the room (and entire house) when it is finished!! I've made some real progress but over the six week span other rooms in my home and areas of my life (like being a good Mommy, girlfriend and owner of a thriving business) needed to take priority! I have however shared the progress that has been made in the kitchen! (see pictures)..
The outdated + scary kitchen before
Here's a peek at the stone and fabrication company I use - so many choices!
I purchased this slab of Carrara marble for the counter tops. I'm having it honed. Now I need to pick the faucet. I'm having trouble settling on one.
And the "now" picture.

Yes, it's a construction site but it has come a long way. A HUGE thank you to my father for completing the work for me. He's been amazing. Now I just have to find a way to thank him!! Also, thank you to my sweet boyfriend for completing all the messy demo work in the house! (I've also had the bathroom(s) renovated)

Here's what I've done so far on the kitch...I had a new window installed and the old cabinet boxes are repainted. This is a great way to update a kitchen but also save some cash. I had the deep slate colored tile floor installed. I'm selecting a back splash tile this weekend and have also purchased a new stainless stove. (I need to select a new fridge)  My electrician installed recessed and under-cabinet lighting and I am going to select a pendant for over the sink. (I have it narrowed down to a few - I'll share those pictures next week).
My Dad made and installed the moulding and he's custom making all new cabinet door fronts. I'm ordering a glass front door for over the cabinet with the green interior. I plan to house my white dishes and glasses there. I used the color Swiss Chard by Clark+Kensington as the accent color. It is a shade from their new paint deck. All the new colors will hit most ACE stores during the Spring of 2014. I'll be sure to share more progress shots of the kitchen and my final reveal over the next month or two!! Again, my apologies that the living room isn't finished up...

Here's a small update on the living room: I ordered these wheat sconces for over the mantel. I love them! Find them here.  In all honesty, I need to finish the kitchen so I can move in. Most of my energy and cash is going towards that! Cheers for now, off to a client meeting!! xx

Shelter Loves

Here's what is on my radar this week!!

1. Thanksgiving table setting inspiration. I love the look of sterling silver mixed with natural colors and elements. By Carolyne Roehm
2. I often wear my hair pulled back. A casual chignon is both practical and tres chic. ;) (and that sweater?? It's amaze - anyone know where it is from?)
3. My thought for the week!!
4. I very much want this TB throw for my new living room!
5. Be sure to check out the Sally King Benedict pop up shop on Furbish Studio's site. I adore her paintings!

November

For me, each month brings a fresh approach and different vibe! November quickly ushers in the raw weather in Boston but it also entices me to enjoy more cozy evenings indoors and home cooked meals. I'm already thinking about my Thanksgiving day recipes. (I actually had a few minutes to myself this weekend. It was a nice change.)

I awoke feeling inspired and refreshed! I also made a little time between emails and client projects for a quick peek at this month's Lonny magazine. It arrived in my inbox this morning. I'm craving a snug home with rich colors and layered objects.

If you were to ask me one piece of advice I give to each of my clients no matter their personal style I'd say it is to: "take risks". 95% of the time my clients are thrilled when they try something a bit different or slightly out of their comfort zone. I'm by no means in the business of talking my clients into something they don't like but I do tell them if it feel slightly unsafe now, in the end, they'll most likely love it!! The home pictured below by designer Samantha Knapp does just this. It's an unexpected explosion of colors, textures and objects. The off-beat mix creates a cohesive, livable and inviting home! I'm trying to create that feeling with my new home. I'm struggling a bit with some of my "typical" furniture pieces. (they don't fit!! grrr) I may have to ditch convention for a bit without sacrificing function. I'm excited to see how it turns out! My budget is running low so I have to make due for now with what I own! I'm pretty sure I can make it work. I'm looking forward to sharing the end results over the next couple months with you all.

Happy Monday and November !! xx
