Shelter Loves...

Is anyone's summertime schedule erratic? MIne is!
Here is what I'm eyeing this week and here are the deets:

1. Wow, loving this Caitlin Mcgauley wallpaper. Those leopards need a home and would look fabulous in a little dressing or powder room.
2. I'm on the hunt for the perfect pair of black engineer boots for the Fall. Can't you tell?
3. I'm liking the natural serenity of this space. I would add a jute rug to ground the area. I love the one I linked to!
4. I've always adored stars. They seem to be popping up all over the place.
5. Yes, it is my loves....Here is the artist info on where to purchase this great canvas cut out.

Provincetown visit!

Some of my friend's and I (including Matty) headed to Provincetown or what New Englanders dub "P-town" last Saturday. We are now coining this venture the annual "p to p" trip. Provincetown is located at the very tip of Cape Cod. We took an 1 1/2 ferry trip over from Plymouth, Ma. and spent the day eating, shopping and having a few cocktails! It was a blast. P-town is a fun, colorful, diverse coastal community. Next time I would love to visit for the night. I hear the parties are not to be missed! Here are some highlights and a few of my photos along with a darling boutique B + B that I may need to stay at next year!
We ate an amazing lunch here!!

Not sure why this turned out so blurry. Matty and I are on the far left hand side of the photo!

The lucite "seat"

I was pulling together a design board for a client this morning and suggested a lucite stool for my client's fabulous closet and dressing area, that got me to thinking about the versatility and chicness of lucite seating. Here's some inspiration for your home!
I'm loving these bar stools!

Here are a few options:

1. Lucite bench
2. Bar stools - you could recover the seats!
3. Small stool with mongolian lamb seat

Love the look

I usually share "adult" looks but today I wanted to share some of my favorite little girl picks. I have a four year old daughter and at the moment she wants to wear frilly shirts and girlie dresses every day. She owns the red suede boots in brown and this year Mini Boden is offering them in red, purple and leopard too.

Cottage Love #15

Hello, hello....You know I adore a beautiful cottage. Today I'm sharing a fabulous renovation by designer Benjamin Dhong. I'm loving his take on mixing classic and modern elements seamlessly. Enjoy!
One of our favorite projects has always been our dramatic transformation of a rundown hippy house into a classic Marin cottage.
We tore it down to the studs and added clean classical lines.
The result: a fresh take for a young family moving from Shelter Island, NY to California.
Proudly featured in this month's San Francisco Cottages & Gardens.

Shelter Loves....

I've been trying to squeeze in a bit more time to be inspired online and by other blogs lately. I've also decided to start reading again. It is so hard to fit everything in but sitting and reading a good novel is the ultimate escape. I used to read at the beach but now my eyes are on my little ones...Do you have a favorite novel? If so, please do share.... :)

Here is what caught my eye this week:

1. I love these booties and would live in them this Fall. Nordstrom's sale is in full swing!
2. I adore an array of small necklaces. I wear two all the time and one has my children's initials on it. This one is precious.
3. Different is refreshing....Blue cabinets would make quite a splash in small quarters.
4. Capri - it's on my "bucket list".
5. I received this adorable Mimi and Muff beach tote a few weeks ago as a gift, I've been enjoying it ever since.
6. I hope my kitchen tack board looks something like this! I'm hanging it today.
7. I wish this world were full of more men like Martin! The news is so sad lately. I feel blessed to live such a safe and secure environment.
8. How cute is this anchor door mat? Switching out a door mat seasonally is a great way to update your entry way.

Command Central

We all know how crazy life can get, throw a few kids into the mix and it is pure insanity. The appointments, games, parties and paper work alone can make your head spin.
If you don't have the space to create a super organized desk area in the kitchen similar to the three pictured here, you will need to carve out a smaller (or tiny) area in your kitchen to house all this "stuff" neatly.
Here I've shared some inspiration and below is my little area that I plan to transform. My words of advice would be to keep it as simple as possible. Often when an area is over designed and too complicated it tends to get disorganized quickly. A tack board, message area, calendar, some pins and possibly an "in box" for mail should do the trick! I also like to keep items and a place to store push pins, staples, pens and paper clips close by.

Here is a picture of the sad little corner in my kitchen that I am going to turn into an area to organize my children's monthly calendar of events, appointments, artwork, invites, recipes, etc. I'll be sure to show the after photo. Below are some ideas and thoughts of where to purchase what you need.  I also like See Jane Work for items.

I find Pottery Barn has a good selection of wall organizers and pin boards. Purchase this here

This is similar to mine in the image above.
