Shelter Loves...

I awoke to a sunny day and beautifully white coated trees. We received about five inches of snow last night. I'm not going to complain about our extended winter here in Boston but what I'd really love to see is springy pastels, and daffodil flowers. I'm ready to wear my girlie treasures and may be adding that adorable feminine blouse and floral cuff to my "wish list". Happy Spring + weekend!

So the green references weren't really intentional, I guess subconsciously my 1/4 of Irish heritage is shining through. Here's what's on my radar this week!!


1. I love classic studs with a twist, I wear them everyday!
2. This Spring's floral prints are not only sophisticated but more sexy then sweet.
3. These mint storage boxes are very sweet!
4. I'm working on a number of projects right now, including a teen aged girl's bath room. This springy Christopher Farr fabric happily made the cut this week!!
5. I'm also starting a kitchen renovation, at the end of our initial meeting I told the client to hand me her favorite kitchen inspiration picture, she handed me this photo. I love it! The windows make the space!
6. This vintage, brass towel caddy would surely add a dash of glamour to your powder room. Buy it here!

monogrammed charms, spotted sweaters + summer inspired cooking..are just a few of the items on my radar this week!

1. My friend has had this monogrammed charm for years, I've admired it for a long time. Someday I'll buy one and wear it along with the charms I already wear around my neck daily. 2. I'm guessing I'll be wearing sweaters for a few more months, polka dots are still a favorite. This cutie looks like it would fit perfectly. (not too short)
3. Tilton - Fenwick in the NY Times. Loved the peek of Anne Maxwell Foster's loft. How great are those fab barn doors??
4. I needed a taste of summer this week, that's why I made this dish last night. It was simple and yummy! And a reminder that Spring is around the corner (I hope) I found the recipe via the beautiful cooking blog Roost.
5. I think I need these minty green sandals..They'd actually look sweet with the black sweater above and a pair of skinny white jeans. 
6. I'm making a few changes here at Shelter, love the idea of a unique, customized logo. This beautiful book cover illustration is by design extraordinaire Jessica Hische!

Whoo hoo, it's Wednesday already!? Here's what I'm obsessing over this week! I have my fundraiser Gala this weekend, so I'm putting the finishing touches on my look! Here's the rundown of my loves....


1. I love fun over sized bauble rings. I could use a new ring and this oversized gem would be a perfect addition to my collection.
p.s. - ShopBop is having a huge saving sale right now! (where the ring and booties are from)
2. I love and think heels are quite sassy but realistically day to day I wear skinny jeans and little booties, much like these! I have a Rag and Bone pair on my radar but I like these too, and they're less $$.
3. I'd live in this sweater with leggings and again..booties this Spring.
4. Tortoise!! I can't get enough of it. Necklace + Mirror
5. How adorable is this little pendant. ?? It would be perfection in a powder room!!
6. Emerson Fry's Spring line is live today!! Looks fab!!
7. I'll add a splash of color to my lips this weekend!! I find Nars gloss gives the right amount of plump to your pout.
8. I'm wearing my hair up this weekend, and I'm not sure if I'll go with a traditional chignon or try something a bit fresher and unexpected. Blake's hair looks beautiful here!
9. I adore a room a little girl can grow with, this one is nicely grounded with the hints of cocoa.

Shelter Loves 2.23.13

Good Morning, thought I'd sneak in a Saturday edition of "Shelter Loves" today. I'm obviously admiring all things Oscar inspired this week. Including this stunning but intriguing photo by Terry O'Neil of Faye Dunaway the morning after winning an Oscar in 1977 for Network.

"She isn't sure quite who she is any more. I waited for her to look away from the camera, and I got the shot. I look at this picture often, and I'm still so proud of it. It's still the best Oscar picture ever taken. And modern photographers should take that as a challenge."  - Terry O'Neil

2. You really can't go wrong with a classic black heel a la Faye Dunaway. They're timeless.

3. I'm attending a fund raising Gala next week. I'm looking forward to dressing up for a night on the town, ;). After I spend the day on book work today, ugh, I'm running out to find a pair of statement earrings like these emerald stunners.

4. Do you drink champagne? I do. This oversized bucket would look beautiful filled with chilled bubbly. I'd love to have an Oscar party some day, maybe when the kiddies are older.

5. I dream of having an entrance like this... I'd splash a little color on the front door, although the all white scheme is pretty.

6. NEVER!

7. I adore this sweet little straw clutch, it comes in natural and turquoise too.

I'm going to try and head to an Oscar nominated movie tonight! Did you have a favorite this year? I watched the classic Here Comes Mr. Jordan, 1941 last night. It won two academy awards. My goal is to watch 13 classic movies in 2013. I'm on number 3!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY LOVES!! I'M ADORING EVERYTHING STICKY SWEET AND PINK + RED THIS WEEK!

1. Lee Radziwill's home. (younger sister to Jackie O.) - that pink sofa is precious. It looks so beautifully custom tailored.
2. I adore pink + red. Dress: Issa London
3. On my long time wish list are pink heart D.Porthault sheets. One beauty of being single? You can decorate with as many pink feminine details as you'd like.
4. Adorable earrings. I live in various studs during the weekday.
5. I may need to break down and buy a monogrammed Clare Vivier duffle bag.
6. I bought a sweater at J. Crew that is this identical color last winter. I wear it often, it's especially cheery in the dead of winter.

Hello...Do you ever have weeks where you could use an extra 24 hours? That's the kind of week I'm having..I wanted to sneak a "Shelter Loves" post in today. Here's what I'm adoring this week.

1 + 2 Shoes with embellishments
3. These peacock earrings are fab.
4. Tory never disappoints, I'm loving this Spring Tunic.
5. Gold dipped anything works for me but this flatware combines classic with a hint of glam
6. Feminine details are still on my radar this winter, how cute is this bow belt, I'd wear it around the waste of a fitted little sweater.
7. I have gold chairs very similar to this, don't hate me but I found them on the side of the road!! They're honestly the best of my road side finds. I'm spraying them black because the gold is in rough shape, hmmm maybe I should spray them GOLD?? I'd love to dine here..

I'm off, hope all my Northeastern friends are buttoning up for the storm. I still need to run out and stock up on red wine...

One word for today, Burrr...
I wish I had a trip booked this winter but I'm saving my pennies for bigger things! If I were to jet away to a warm destination, first on my list would be Harbour Island. This balmy, pink sand beach, pretty with a hint of bohemian prep destination is calling my name right now. India has the right idea doesn't she? - Images 5 + 7

1. I've long wanted to create a gorgeous gallery wall much like Angie Hranowsky's. I love how the evolved looking style.

4. Okay, I've pinned these Lulu Frost earrings a few times without remembering..You've done that too haven't you? I think it's time to take the plunge....do any of my readers own them? Are they heavy?

Here's what I have my eye on this week...

1. Henri Maik paintings like this one in Liz Caan's home. I presented this artist to a client! This french born painter's style depicts colorful animals and folklore inspired drawings. I ADORE his overscaled pieces but not the price tag of 35,000 a pop!
3. The Jules dress at Crewcuts. How can I not buy my little daughter this adorable frock? It's aptly named Jules! (my nickname)
4. I also love the elephant bangle
5. I would wear these with cropped jeans....wish I was going someplace warm this winter.
6. I love anything woven these days...A pair of these lamps from Shades of Light would look beautiful flanking a bed.
7 + 8. West Elm's new rug collection, these two are my favorites. I just used the Ikat design in a client's home and it looked perfect!! (see sneak peek client below)

Shelter Loves 12.28

I took a much needed day off from blogging and working yesterday! It's amazing what one free weekday will do for the soul! I'm back today with my "shelter loves" series. I'm all about clean color, spaces and design right now! I love the holidays and have had a great 2012 but I love the cathartic feeling of a fresh start and new year!

1. I'm not jetting away this winter, I need to save, save, save but I still love all the inspiring, colorful resort lines. These sandals would work with almost any look. I'll have to keep them in mind for summer!
2. Yes please to fresh white, lace details and tassel sandals. I love everything about this photo.
3. Loving Ankasa's ikat print for Beacon Hill.
4. + 6 A brass vintage lotus leaf lamp is certainly on my new home wish list. Look at these stunners.
5. A recent client pick for a teenage girl's bedroom. These extra cozy blankets come in an array of colors.
7. A little bling for New Year's Eve and 2013. I predict you'll continue to see the dynamic mix of lady like details with an edge in 2013!
8. I wear scarfs all year round. This new Tory Burch one with the pom pom detail is adorbs...
9. How pretty are gold tasseled balloons? They're perfect for almost any festive occasion. Buy them here, or make them yourself!!

Shelter Loves: Gift Guide for her

Hello, hello. I just returned from a whirl wind trip to Sedona, AZ. If you haven't been, go. It's beautiful.  It's the perfect weekend getaway for hiking, shopping, sipping wine and of course spa treatments!

Anyway back to business and the goodies listed above...I'm only going to curate two gift guides this year. In lieu of my normal Shelter Loves post, I thought I'd share my favorites for her (and myself) . Wednesday's list will be my favorite picks for your home! 1. Stylistically J.Crew pretty much nails it for me, mix in an edgy pair of faux leather pants and I'm all set wearing almost anything from their site! I may need to add this necklace to my bauble collection. Being a single momma I don't get much for Christmas, (really I'm ok with that) I guess that doesn't mean I can't buy a present for my self once in a while! ;)
2. I love Barrie Benson's designs and this red door at her home is AMAZING, hardware and ALL!
3. Lauren Merkin's clutch is the perfect staple for any wardrobe! I have about six clutches that I rotate when going out, I'm loving this embossed lizard kelly green beauty.
4. Scattering bowls of vintage ornaments is a great way to add some holiday flair to your home.
5. Oh Tory, I do love your shoes!! And your shoe boxes for that matter.
6. This is a clever idea, remove your closet for a stylish console, that's if you can give up the coat storage. I'm loving the pulls on this piece!
7. My newest style icon?? Giovanna Battaglia, she's fierce and fearless. I love that.

Shelter Loves 11.5.12

1. Shelter loves NYC and the surrounding areas who have been hard hit by Sandy. My thoughts and prayers are with you all! I also love fabulous ladies like MacKenzie from Design Darling who are donating a % of their site proceeds to the Red Cross. 
2. It's getting burrrrrrr chilly up here in Boston. I love relaxing by a grand fireplace and cozy room this time of year. The built in window seats are def. a plus in this space. I proposed the same concept to a client a while back!!
3. Pottery Barn kids Sherpa bean bags. I popped into the store this weekend, it looked so cute with warm faux fur everywhere. I think one of my little ones will be receiving one of these from Santa.
4. Elin Kling's gorgeous waves. Hmmm I want my hair to look like this!! I think I may need to invest in either a barrel curler or rollers! Thoughts?? All I know is it needs to be an efficient method, I never have much time to fuss with my hair in the am.
5. Camel boots. I'm obsessed with how versatile they are! These are from Chloe and Lucky Brand.

Shelter Loves 10.12.12

I can't even pretend to have my life in order this week. I moved yesterday so my life is in boxes. Well not my life, but the "things" that help me organized and sane like clothing, toiletries etc. If you've ever moved and have lived someplace temporarily (as I am while I search for a home) then I'm sure you can feel my pain! I really wanted to share a post today..Here's what I'm ADORING this week! Happy Weekend. I'll be back everyday very soon  - promise! xxx

2. Little, flexible stools covered in fun graphic like leopard and snakeskin.
3. Olivia Palermo - she always looks stunning but what I really love is how she mixes fresh trends with classic pieces. I donated about twenty large bags of clothes last week. I just couldn't hang onto all the clothing I never wore but some how still felt I needed!! Going forward I want to think like the french when it comes to my fashion choices. I'm going to purchase a couple of high quality, classic pieces a season and layer in a few less expensive funky more avant-garde choices, such as bags, baubles and scarfs !!
4. I'm so excited for the launch of Kelly and Nate's books this Fall. They both look fab. and I highly admire both their design philosophies. (Nate's collection for Target launches 10/21!!)
5. I really want a polka dot sweater. This cashmere sweetie is from J. Crew.

I'm adoring ALL things cozy and camel this week!

1. The Wendy Schwartz (image via Lonny) seating area within a bedroom. The mix of textiles, colors and shapes are fabulous. There are those sheep skin rugs again. Perfect for this time of year! I dread the day I have to turn the heat on in my house, today was it. It was a chilly 61 degrees in here this morning!

2. Camel bags! This Prada version would work.

3. A Fall plus? Scarf season. I love layering scarfs with outfits. A burberry classic is the way to go!
