After posting pics of Emmanuelle Alt, the editor in chief of Vogue Paris I got to thinking about how french women look amazingly chic even on their worst day. Their outfits don't look overly planned, so their chic factor isn't just cool as hell, it looks effortless. I've been trying to channel the french concept of dressing for a while now. I buy much less then I ever have but ensure that what I do purchase can be worn almost year round and mixed with most pieces in my closet. I LOVE and mix blazers and little jackets with everything. And I own mostly classic pieces but layer in the seasonal trends with shoes and accessories. If you read my blog you know that A. I'm a single mommy on a budget and B. don't like to fill my closet with clutter. I've included my fashion wish list for this Spring. I doubt I'll buy everything but I'll pick up a few of the items on my list...Here are a few more pics of Emmanuelle's effortless style, she's currently inspiring me..... |

2. White skinny jeans (need a new pair each season)

oh my goodness she is gorgeous! I totally agree. You throw a nice blazer and cute shoes on with anything and you can chic it right up. This is how I live. I'm a designer and artist in Los Angeles, and often tired from long hours at the design firm, painting, or the gym ;) (not always the gym), or just life in general and the idea of looking chic for work is overwhelming. I'm known for having a more French interpretation, and I think it's the easiest way to go! Loved your post....

I agree with your take on fashion, better a few great pieces that work with everything than a closet full of maybes. Janell

ReplyDeleteWe will be moving back to the US from South America, I will want to arrive In Fashion .. although I have to say, South Americans follow the European fashions so I think I will be fine in the US.
I love the shoes, chunky pearls and you can never have too many pairs of white jeans or navy blazers. Especially if you are a blonde :)
