As you may recall I travelled to Pocatello, Idaho a few months back. I was given the opportunity to work with Ace Hardware and The Children's Miracle Network to design a special bedroom for a wonderful little girl. I had a budget I needed to work with and a few days to pull everything together. I was touched by Paige's story and wanted to create a room where she felt special but she also needed an environment that would function well. My concept was "Classic Fairytale", Paige loves Princesses! I began sketching ideas and envisioned the textures and kept coming back to forest animals such as deer, bunnies and owls surrounding a fairy princess. We all have our own image of what a classic fairytale looks like. I perused vintage images for even more inspiration. I also wanted to design a space that she could grow with. I knew the neutral rug needed to remain and it could not be covered for safety reasons. There were also some items that would not ship in time for our tight deadline but overall I am very happy with how the room turned out. I think Paige was too. I have added a link to the story and the video that aired on House Smarts - Design Smarts at the end of August. I included a few of the sources for items at the end of the post. I had been searching for some time to find a quote (you know I love my quotes) that embodied the design. I think I found a very fitting quote for sweet Paige. "She leaves a little sparkle wherever she goes". Thank you again, Ace Hardware and The Children's Miracle Network. I feel truly blessed to have been a part of this transformation. I also wanted to thank all who helped assemble the room with me. xx |
