Room of the day!

I came across this photo on a blog last night, love it. I could jump right into this dining room and hang out! I'm getting excited for the holidays, are you??

OH BOY

Design: Sherry Hart
Someone very close to me is about to have a baby boy anytime now! We briefly discussed the little guy's nursery today. Here's some inspiration for my readers and for you K!!! What I love about all these rooms is that they aren't too fussy. The designs use a few grand gestures but are fairly simple. Don't be afraid to use larger scaled objects in a small person's room!

I never tire of David Hick's La Fiorentina print
I adore the artwork above the bed - If anyone knows the source, please do share!!
I love the idea of a map wall in a child's room or play room.

Ashley Stark's Glamorous digs

Most of my fellow design obsessed reader's will spot Ashley's (she is now the creative director for her family's well known company, Stark Carpet) gorgeous interior in this month's Elle Decor, but for those of you who don't subscribe I thought I'd share the "great-ness". I loved Ashley's original home featured in Domino a few years ago. I can scrape up those photos, if anyone is interested. Her latest Manhattan high rise is a bit more sophisticated and grown up but it's equally gorgeous. Ashley has a great eye for fabulously chic design details. The lighting, tufting, rugs (of course) and the dialogue between the chosen furniture pieces is spot on and beautifully done. Her flat is a mix of vintage and new, just what I love to see....

The credenza is the perfect shade of deep navy, without that contrast this room could have looked washed out.
The deep gray fabric covered walls in the study cozy this room up beautifully!

I've wanted a venetian bubble chandelier for as long as I can remember. This one is gorgeous!

Brighten your life

with RED, it's fun, cheerful and undoubtedly classic!! A little goes a long way, and for obvious reasons I love this color all winter long! I recently had a client paint her front door a shade of bright red! (I can't wait to see it!)
Wearing these Hunter Wellies in the dead of winter would certainly brighten my day! (Bee from Atlantic-Pacific always gets it right)

I will use nail-heads on a door one of these days!
Yes, Chiang Mai dragon is all over the place, but this chair looks amazing!

Take Me Away

WE all need to get away at some point in our lives, escape reality, relax, reflect and just not think about day to day stressors! I'm there right now, but I actually have too much to button up, so for a number of reasons I need to hold off on an escape. I'm wrapping up the paperwork for my impending divorce tomorrow, which is liberating but has also been mentally exhausting. I've had a few other curve balls thrown my way this Fall, but I've decided to face them head on and do something about it, instead of trying to change what I have no control over. My energy is now directed towards what I do have control over; my actions and thoughts! I am trying to focus on what is great right now and will at some point plan a get away, it may not be next month but it will happen! I will make it happen!! I came across this breathtakingly, pure escape via dust jacket attic today. This country get away is located in South Africa and is called Babylonsotren. The gorgeous landscape, clean design and freshly grown food all looks amazing. This destination has made it's way onto my bucket list! Hope all of your holiday preparations are going well..now back to work I go...
