Where I'd like to....

COOK THIS WEEK...
I'm starting a new weekly post on Tuesdays..dubbed "Where I'd like to"... Like most design junkies I'm constantly perusing magazines and the web. Over the past few years, I've compiled three large "looks books" and folder upon folder of photos and tear sheets..So I thought I would share a new {some will be fresh + some will be classic favorites} space with you each week. Enjoy!
This week I'm pining over this dreamy kitchen. Maybe it's because my kitchen is dated and dysfunctional {eventually I hope to have the funds to perfect it} but for now I just tear droves of photos from my favorite magazines, dream and sketch.
* The two things I would tweak in this kitchen are the lights over the island and the seating set up. I would place three large, evenly spaced pendants over this hefty island, instead of two..I also love the concept of the modern, comfy stools, but there isn't enough leg room provided in this photo..
* I've always wanted to have an over sized multifunctional island. I envision it being the "hub of the home", for food prep, eating, socializing, home work etc. This island is great - love the look of the casters.

I'd love to cook here too! This pic is in my Idea Files as well. How much would you love to stow your random cookware in those big leather bins at the end of a long day.

I love the large leather bins...they're unexpected.

I am so excited about your new weekly post, I am going to be looking forward to it each Tuesday. I'm an interior designer also and I would be so interested in seeing or hearing how you compiled your "look books" are they just binders filled with photos etc., scrap book style with multiple items on a page compiling one "look"?

Thanks for your comment.
My look books are organized by each home, so if I love an entire space I usually include it. I also have a kitchen look book. I try to vary the styles included, this way something will appeal to all of my clients.. Good Luck.

Love the idea of a weekly post like this!
Great kitchen, but I'm with you- what's up with the two lights so close together over the island?!
I too have always wanted an over-sized island. I struggled with whether to put a sink in my island or not. In the end the thought of having a big expanse of surface space won over a sink!! Fingers crossed it was the right decision!
