Ahhh, the entry or more formally referred to as the foyer..It's the last room you {whether it be you or a guest} see before departing and the first room you are greeted with upon arriving. The foyer should set the tone for your entire home both functionally and aesthetically. So let's look at what most of these spaces have in common.
1. A place to momentarily drop your keys and mail {the key word being momentarily - be weary of the clutter bug}
2. A mirror of some sort, looking glasses are good for two reasons. For one, they visually expand the space, but more importantly mirrors allow for a quick glimpse of your pretty face.
3. A seat! The perfect spot to take shoes off and put shoes on.
4. Lighting, whether it be a table lamp, ceiling mounted fixture, a sconce or all three; good lighting is crucial. {and remember layered light is the most appealing}
5. A beautiful table-scape or a "moment" for flowers, found objects, artwork, comfy pillows...there are countless creative options.
6. Storage for the necessities of life!

A thank you to Ivy Lane. I knew Tom Scheerer's work but hadn't visited his site in a while, see her blog for a recent post on the designer.
