Nursery Update..

Hello, Hello, sorry about the lack of posts, I'm doing everything I can do stay sane on about three hours of sleep a night..My poor new baby has really bad acid reflux, so she never sleeps much!! I am going to start on her nursery at some point this month! Remember I was going to hang a collage of quirky boat artwork on the wall if I had a baby boy? Well I've decided to do the same with my "enchanted forest theme" {bunnies and deer} for Emerson's room. Here's a few of the pieces that could work..As I said I want the room and the art to feel as if it's evolved! I don't think any room should be "too perfect" because then it feels over designed to me! Oh and if you have any tips for an uncomfortable baby please feel free to send them my way!! Peace out for now. - Julie

hmm poor baby and poor mama... I have 5 boys, I know your current pain. Hope you thoroughly enjoy pulling together Emerson's room. Here's a post I did on a girl nursery (http://moth-design.blogspot.com/2010/02/flora-and-fauna-nursery.html) There are deers similar to the owls.
All the best! xoxo
ps- sending some sleep vibes too!

Hi Julie....my first born also had acid reflux, it was AWFUL!! so upsetting to see and he won't drink milk even now..BUT I did go on to have two more so it can't have been that bad! I found that swaddling really helped though (you can get special little blankets with velcro to fasten which makes it easier) they look a bit like those cocktail sausages wrapped in bacon but it really helped us in what was a bit of a groundhog day situation.I hope this helps! x

Not sure if this will help but a friend of mine's son was having bad reflux. She found out that he was lactose intolerant. She stopped eating and drinking dairy (she was breastfeeding) and his reflux went away.

So sorry she is not feeling well. Best of luck. We hope she feels better soon and you get some rest.

oh, I feel your pain! my son had the worst reflux and honestly, zantac was the only thing that worked. you should ask your pediatrician about it. it is very benign and really helped. I also got a wedge for him to sleep on which worked- as long as he was swaddled really really well.
ps- LOVE your blog.

That green backdrop with the trees is awesome! Love that. Is the wee one on formula or mommies milk? I had friends that went to Soy based formulas and all was good. Good luck!

Julie these prints are absolutely enchanting. I have such a strong dislike for themed rooms and overly designed spaces as well. Emerson will no doubt love her bedroom (nursery) for many, many years to come. I wish I some solid, proven advice for baby acid reflux. One out of my 4 had such a bad stomach. I just remember sleep-walking for months. I completely feel for you and hoping for relief for you both very soon.
All my best to you ~ deb

Two of my babies had reflux. Zantac helped, also we used a thicker formula made for reflux which helped. Let her sleep in a carseat or bouncy seat, it's much more comfortable than lying on back when you have reflux.

So sorry the new baby has acid reflux! That must be horrible. On a happier note, I love the doe pictures and think those would be adorable in the nursery!

If you prop up her crib mattress from underneath its supposed to help while she sleeps...so sorry!

A friend of mine just had a baby and he was having horrible tummy problems and she was nursing and giving formula. She started using Similac Soy and that seemed to be the key. He also has a tummy relaxer prescription that they put in his bottle. I don't know the name of that. Sorry to hear she is having such a rough time. Good luck, you must be exhausted. Kathysue

Oh gosh Julie, my Gigi had that so bad ( I didn't know the definition) and threw up all her bottles plus crying all the time. Hardest time of my life. It does pass! Now she's the sweetest, happiest thing. Hang in there xoxo Ali
PS My friend bought me a Haberman feeder and it helped.

Hi - I have a 5 month old...and she had (still has) acid refux. Zatac seemed to really help calm her (allowing us all to sleep). The miracle blanket worked wonders. We tried all sorts of swaddling blankets, but the miracle blanket is by far the best (they are super snug and cannot break out of it). I never cut out dairy completely...so I'm curious to know if that helps. The discomfort gets better and better with time (although she still spits up). Be careful not to overfeed! I have found this makes it sooo much worse. Hang in there!!!

The prints are lovely. I have an aversion to theme rooms. I think an enchanted forest is a great idea and I'd see this grouping as collected, not theme-y. My grandson had a really rough time with acid reflux. It was hard to see the sweet little guy in pain and it was a totally foreign experience to me as my son was the easiest baby ever. Swaddling, baby zantac and probiotics, walking him around the house for five months and reminding ourselves that this would pass is what got our family though. Don't be afraid to ask for help also as it can be stessful and tiring for you too. Love the name Emerson!

Oh dear, sorry about the acid reflux. That can be so uncomfortable for such a small one. I love the theme you selected for Enerson's room. Hope you get some sleep :)

I'm impressed you are posting at all. Good luck with the baby, it can be very tiring and overwhelming. But it gets much better.

Love that top image - I too had a colicky/refluxy baby (he is now 12) but every day was a new day! Hang in there and do what you can to squeeze a rest time in when all is quiet....KG

I'm going through the same thing right now with my little boy! I'm breastfeeding and have cut out dairy but no difference yet (only been a couple days), plus my baby doesn't like to be swaddled. I tried Zantac but it didn't seem to do the trick so now we are on Prevacid. I'm reallllly praying it works! I feel your pain...it is the worst thing in the world to watch your little one in pain-and exhausting for us! Good luck! I hope it gets better for yall very soon! Let me know if you find something that works well for you :)

We had a better night. I always snuggle Emerson tightly in the miracle blanket! The poor thing has been sleeping up-right in her car seat.
My blog actually keeps me sane right now. I know this will pass..Thanks again for all your kind words!
