on the subject of fashion

After posting pics of Emmanuelle Alt, the editor in chief of Vogue Paris I got to thinking about how french women look amazingly chic even on their worst day. Their outfits don't look overly planned, so their chic factor isn't just cool as hell, it looks effortless. I've been trying to channel the french concept of dressing for a while now. I buy much less then I ever have but ensure that what I do purchase can be worn almost year round and mixed with most pieces in my closet. I LOVE and mix blazers and little jackets with everything. And I own mostly classic pieces but layer in the seasonal trends with shoes and accessories. If you read my blog you know that A. I'm a single mommy on a budget and B. don't like to fill my closet with clutter. I've included my fashion wish list for this Spring. I doubt I'll buy everything but I'll pick up a few of the items on my list...Here are a few more pics of Emmanuelle's effortless style, she's currently inspiring me.....

 MY WISH LIST

1. Navy blazer with gold buttons
2. White skinny jeans (need a new pair each season)
A color block heel ( I need a new pair of high heels and more comfy everyday heels, I won't buy two pairs of color-blocked ones though)
3. Zara

A bright pink blouse
6. This one's not exactly the same but it's pretty cute. (wish I knew the source of the pictured one)
A flat pair of leopard shoes7. Madewell

A little colorful dress
8. Sheridan French
A fun knot bracelet
A classic chunky pearl necklace (mine finally broke after about 15 years of wear)
9. Lauren Elan
This Emerson Fry top - perfect for a casual night out

Classic aviators. (I used to have a couple of pairs of these. - I currently have a knock off pair but need the real deal again) I like the medium sized ones.

oh my goodness she is gorgeous! I totally agree. You throw a nice blazer and cute shoes on with anything and you can chic it right up. This is how I live. I'm a designer and artist in Los Angeles, and often tired from long hours at the design firm, painting, or the gym ;) (not always the gym), or just life in general and the idea of looking chic for work is overwhelming. I'm known for having a more French interpretation, and I think it's the easiest way to go! Loved your post....

I agree with your take on fashion, better a few great pieces that work with everything than a closet full of maybes. Janell

I am going to follow your list :)
We will be moving back to the US from South America, I will want to arrive In Fashion .. although I have to say, South Americans follow the European fashions so I think I will be fine in the US.
I love the shoes, chunky pearls and you can never have too many pairs of white jeans or navy blazers. Especially if you are a blonde :)
chau!
