Knock, knock.

Classic Samuel Heath door knocker

Happy Friday!! It has been a busy week. (no surprise there) I had a little health scare this week that sort of stopped me in my tracks and made me assess my life a little. We would all love to slow down wouldn't we? But who has time? I mean working out is something I do for myself and it also keeps me sane but half the time I'm flying to the gym just to squeeze in a 1/2 an hour run before I have to jet to grab my children at separate child care providers. Eek!! Blogging is actually somewhat an escape for me but there wasn't five minutes for that this week. (hence no blog posts until this am). As it is my son's school is closed today for teacher conferences so the poor guy is watching re-runs of the Flintstones. (Yes, I have the mother guilt thing going on too - I def. need to set aside some time to work on a little project or take him to lunch today). I love my job and clients etc...and don't mind being a busy bee I do need to squeeze in a bit more zen time...

The good news is I was actually able to spend some time last Sunday purchasing and hanging a new front storm door for my house. Matty and I completed the task in three hours and were quite pleased with ourselves.

My plan is to paint my front door this weekend but I'm truly torn on the color. I'm actually leaning towards painting the door high gloss black and purchasing a fabulous door knocker instead. I would love to paint the door coral or some shade of aqua (above and below) but my fear is I won't like it with the black storm door. I have no choice but to have a storm door year round in N.E. and I'm not painting that! It's perfect right now and looks just like this one in the photo below. I'll have to add color to the front of the house in some way. I'm also going to plant flowers and box woods along the front of the house..Now I need to decide what type of knocker to purchase. I do know it needs to make a statement, no small knockers on this house! (no pun intended) - Below are some inspiration shots and links to sites that sell pretty door knockers.

The bee is available here
How I hope the door turns out!

I live on the marsh and five minutes from the beach so something nautical is fitting. Foxes have long been my good luck symbol too. I think I've narrowed it down to one of those choices. I also love both nickel and brass! decisions...decisions...

I just took the Michael Healy scallop shell knocker in brass off my front door on Friday to replace it with a design of his in nickel (to match my outdoor lighting, etc.) - I will sell you the scallop for a good deal if you're interested.

Love brass door knockers. I actually have a vintage brass fox door knocker I bought but didn't use. I've been thinking of selling it. Let me know if you're interested!
