Shelter Loves...

There's something refreshing about waking up on a Friday. I usually make the last day of the work week very productive, easing into the weekend with all the boxes checked and my to do list tackled makes me feel better about enjoying some down time on the weekend. My brain does not turn off much during the week and quite frankly design projects can be all consuming. (I've been known to jot an idea down or draw a quick sketch at 4 am). I'm excited about the array of projects I'm working on and am constantly trying to create the next well executed and designed moment. Here's what sparked my interest this week! Happy Weekend - xx

1. + 2. I think I enjoy the street style better than the photos of the fashion shows during Fashion Week. NY was up this week! One thing I did spot was the resurgence and simplicity of the cotton tee. T-shirts work with just about any type of clothing - A favorite, is the Madewell version (image #1). I am purchasing all three colors of the crew neck (I already own the v-neck) Image (2) shows the versatility of this wardrobe staple. Finally, do you read 'Man Repeller"? It's a witty and well written editorial blog that covers a slew of topics and never leaves out fabulous, fashionable finds. Leandra is a wildly creative writer and her street shots of NYC this year do not disappoint.

3. Limed wood in the kitch, I also adore the use of an unexpected light above the island.
4. Beautiful stationery with custom monograms. Here are two companies that offer a beautiful selection. 1 and 2
5. The latest necklace trend: The Cowrie choker. This one is pretty. Etsy also a number of inexpensive, casual versions.
7. The delightful illustrations and paintings by Chinese artist, Oamul Lu. To put it simply, his works make me happy
8. Love this tidbit! #truth

Love the Look

Good Morning! I wasn't able to share last week's look I am adoring, so I'm kicking off Monday with my usually mid week post! You all know I am a big fan of the high-low combo. It's also a good idea to never look like you are trying too hard. (wink wink) Alexa Chung has this idea down! Here she perfectly combines a dressy blazer with simple jeans. She chose the perfect pump to finish off her outfit. I also included my go to lipstick . Can you stand how adorable that Hillier Bartley bunny purse is?

**I've shared a high and lower priced pump option.

Shelter Loves..

Hello Friday, it's always nice to see you! It's been a busy week and I've been fighting a damn cold. I am drinking my third cup of tea today as I type this. 'Tis the back to school season I guess. With that said, I am getting excited for all of the upcoming holidays. It's a hectic but fun time of year. October is full of birthdays in my family. (including my own) and it kicks off the celebrating. I'm not a huge Halloween person, my kids complain that we don't have any scary decorations out front or around the house...tough life they have! Here's what I've got the "feels" for this week! xx

1. French dressing (as I have mentioned before). I spent some time checking out all the street fashion during the "Fashion weeks" around the globe, I think Paris was my fave. I mean, look at her!! This image further confirms that my simple hair style is OK! I do own a fat barrel iron and adore the pretty curls but more often than not I don't have the time to fuss with it all. I am more of a messy bun, loose pony kind of gal.
2. Okay, I don't want to bore you with all my sweater talk, but I can't deal with itchy clothing. This one is adorable and I promise it's not scratchy!
3. I think I need these sneaks in my life!
4. I'm kind of obsessed at seeing how interesting people live. New York - Behind Closed Doors by Polly Devlin and Ann Schlecter, shares unique peek behind twenty four dynamic New Yorker's homes.  .
5. We are hosting Thanksgiving this year! If I can get it together, I'll even share a look at my table setting. I am drawn to interesting layered table settings. This one hosted by Jenna Bush Hager caught my eye last weekend. The beautiful menus were created by Poppy Cox Ink
6. Last year as some of you may recall I dressed as Wonder Woman for Halloween, this year I am keeping it simple and am dressing as a stylish black cat. This kitty mask will perfectly finish off my costume.
7. No one is you!! I love this.
8. I was searching for client art pieces this week and came across the work of Joanne Ho. Her whimsical drawings and water colors draw you in with their saturated color and attention to detail. Joanne will paint commissioned pieces.

Shelter loves

Hello Friday 💗. With no meetings on tap today, I honestly could have worked from the comfort of my bed. It's been windy and rainy all week and we are all ready for some sun shine up in here! Besides the hilarious posts on Man Repeller here's what else made me happy this week!

1. I design a lot of kitchens, I'm always searching for new inspiration that has not been shared everywhere.. This kitchen is so cool, I also appreciate a house that looks lived in..Don't you??
2. I need, want and must get a signet bag. This green and snake skin version is dynamite!!
3. I am always on the hunt for a boot with a narrow shaft calf but now wider boots are all the rage. This version reminds me of something my Mom would have worn in the 80's but I'm sort of digging the change and look.
4. Which brings me to number three, the boots in number in numero two would look fab just like this! You could rock a trash bag Olivia!!
5. God I love gorgeous flowers...I think I'd get married again just to choose the flowers..(kidding of course) this arrangement is so textural and interesting!
6. I am not saying don't consider others but by all means consider your happiness too. Nuff said.
7. UMMMM, Giovanna is the master of chic and cool.. I have been watching her all over fashion the "weeks". Her street attire is usually my favorite! She wore this look during NY fashion week. I still LOVE me some leopard. This dress and you Giovanna, are phenom.
xx

Love the look - Fall 2017 trend report

I honestly get my inspiration from all over the place so it's tough to pin point a few sources....I do however, spend a good deal of time googling and searching Insta and Pinterest with certain phrases, two being = Paris fashion and NY street style. I don't love the cold but I must admit I'm kind of excited to layer and mix my clothes this Fall. I approach my outfits and rooms with the same panache. Chances are if you bump into me on the street during the colder months I'll have some sort of sweater, scarf + funky jacket combo on! I'm also itching to rip apart my closet and reorganize. Here are the hot Fall and Winter trends I'm seeing everywhere! Scoop them up while you can! They're good this year. xx

- PLAID + CHECKS
- DENIM, DENIM AND MORE DENIM

Love the look - graduation party attire

With any creative venture I take on, I usually have a starting point and overall vision. I've been doing this for as long as I remember. Today, I was inspired by the images above, the color, textures and overall feel. I love that this look can be dressed up or down depending on the event or time of day. It is also soft and approachable so you won't be overshadowing the guest of honor.

'Tis the season for graduations and parties! I happen to have one this weekend for my cousin - Congratulations Hayley!! I'm not sure what I'll be wearing yet, but you can bet it will be fashionable but comfortable, like the look I've created. I recommended gladiator flats (or wedges) because I'm sure you're not a fan of sinking into the grass either!!

Loved the look

There are so many cute styles out right now, I'm having trouble containing myself and wallet! Today, I'm sharing my love of cropped jeans. They really give you the opportunity to show off all your adorable shoes. Here I've shared the look "two ways". One look is a bit dressier than the other but they are both fabulous! And design client friendly!
Ummm, Jenna always looks perfect, no?

I have a tan moto leather jacket and a pair of vintage cropped Levi's (someplace). I need to break them out and create this look too. Here are the deets on the goodies above:

This budget friend sweater is 50% off and is another option.

Love the look....

** the clutch is 50% off!!

July 4th weekend, (woo hoo) is truly one of my favorites!!! In Christmas Eve fashion we begin the celebration with fireworks and cocktails on the beach July 3rd eve!  It's a casual holiday that kicks off the beach season. Hope you have a fabulous weekend! Here's a look that I'll be wearing! During the day I'll throw on a bathing suit and cover up.
I'd also love to settle in and grill out on pillow filled sofas like these!  - xo

Love the look - airport style

I'll be honest here, I'm all about comfort when traveling for vacations! Let's face it, planes are either too hot or too cold and flying is far from glamorous these days. (Unless you own a G6 - lucky you) I'm going to be organized with packing this year. Here's what I'll be wearing to the airport. I also drinks tons of water and travel with my design and fashion reads. Happy Weekend and Easter!!! I'd promise to be back with my Shelter Loves post today but I have 11 kids coming over to decorate Easter eggs.

Love the look

I'm sitting here typing this post on another school cancellation day (grrr)! There's a blizzard going on but I can't help but pin away and dream about Spring and Summer clothing! I hope to sneak away this weekend for a bit and reorganize my closet for the Spring. I donate items, every season, that I have not worn in at least two years....I tend to invest in classic pieces and layer in less expensive trendy looks. I'll be adding a slip on espadrille this Spring and that bar necklace has been on my radar for some time. For a casual, comfortable look pair espadrilles with a light sweater, tee or cotton long sleeve top. Have you checked out J.Crew's new signature sunglasses? They have some goodies, along with this great Ray Ban shape!

Love the look - the bootie

You really can't go wrong with a little "bootie". They're comfy, stylish and practical. It's tough to navigate the snow or job sites in a super high heel. Shorter booties can be dressed up or down. I've rounded up some of my favorites..Booties also transition well from the winter into the Spring. I love wearing them with shorts and dresses too! Added details like buckles and pierced looks are huge for 2016!! Scoop these beauties up while you can! Now, hmmm choices, choices, I need to decide which ones to buy!

Love the look..In the Navy

In all seriousness, a huge thank you to all those who have served and all who are currently serving for our country! (Including my Dad who was in the Air Force when I was a baby)

The cooler weather has arrived for sure here in "Bean" town. It's about time to purchase a new wool or down coat. I love the option of navy blue over black. Don't most of us already own a slew of black jackets and coats anyway??

Peace and love to you...have a great weekend..it's been a long week.........

Shelter Loves - Monday edition.....

Hello November! I'm not sure how you already arrived but I am actually excited to embrace the colder weather and holiday season this year.  Friday was bananas and I am taking care of a sick child, so here is a late afternoon Monday edition of all the goodies and greatness I am loving right now!

1. There is something soothing about this time of year. I cherish the moments of snuggling on the sofa, wrapped in a blanket, next to a warm fire with my kids, boyfriend or kitty. (and sometimes all four)

Pendleton has a fabulous collection of blankets, find them here

2. We all have "wish lists"...Visiting the French Alps is pretty close to the top for me, especially during ski season.
3. A good friend of mine told me to rent and watch the 2015 version of Cinderella with my daughter. We watched it last night, the overall message was wonderful. I attempt daily to instill the importance of kindness and courage to my children.
4. I adore beautifully wrapped gifts. I also have been drawn to over sized doors and clean white clapboards. I plan to buy my paper early this year.
5. Cozy boots are a go to for me. These Mou booties are precious. Purchase them here
6.  I love a layered bar set up, this image is welcoming and fun! I just restyled my own bar with an over sized lacquered tray...it is so functional during the holidays, I may host Thanksgiving again this year. Image via: One King's Lane.
7. We are having a cabinet painted Jade Green for a project tomorrow...Jade is a wonderful shade to wear this time of year..Similar bracelet here, wearing a number of slightly different bracelets stacked together creates an impactful look!

Shelter Loves...

Hola, I'm keeping things short and sweet around here today! I snuck in a "chill" yoga class with my friend Tammi this am! I need to do that more often. I'm feeling relaxed and colorful today. Here is what is on my radar this week. Happy Friyay!

1. It's sweater and fair isle season. I would wear this Boden version in a smaller size with skinny jeans and great flat boots.
2. I was sorry to miss Eddie's book signing last night at Hudson. I had a birthday dinner so I could not make it!
3. Ahhh, yes! Or at least throw the room off with something unexpected!
4. I wear glasses to drive. In fact my night vision seems to be getting worse. eek. I need a new pair of glasses and am going to try the free at home trial with Warby Parker. The prices are right and I would rather not feel rushed at a store. I am kinda liking the Baxter and the Jennings. Heavy glasses over power my face, these feel a bit lighter.
5. + 6. Okay so I am slightly obsessed with team Gen + Ben's style. Their colorful and graphic designs really resonate with me. Check out the duo's amazingly creative firm here and their home feature on One King's Lane here. ONE WORD: GAH!!

Love the look...

I don't want to jump the gun, especially because the forecast is saying it is going to be in the high 80's all week - Woot,woot!! But I couldn't help but get inspired by J.Crew's new moto jacket. It is the must have staple of the season and I am pretty sure it will sell out, especially in that gorgeous caramel color. (caramel is a hot color this Fall).. I have also included a black version by Karl Lagerfeld . These are both mid-priced. I would love to see either color paired with a beautiful grey scarf.

Love the look - Kentucky Derby

Everyone has a bucket list, one item on mine is to attend the Kentucky Derby someday. I love an excuse to dress up and have fun! Are you heading to a party? Here's an idea of what you might wear! Cheers!

Shelter Loves....

Happy Fri-yay!! I had a great design meeting today with a client I have worked with in the past! A big part of my business involves building relationships. I love watching my clients lives evolve and their families grow. The personal connections I make through my job is one of the most rewarding aspects!
I was working away on quite a few projects this week so my brain is in need of a day off.. Here is what caught my eye in the process! Peace out, have a relaxing weekend!

1. I designed a nursery yesterday. I love creating spaces for children that they can grow into. Designer, Nick Olsen did just that with this beautiful nursery design. Image via Veranda.
2. I'm kinda digging the platform wedge shoes that are out right now. They are stylish and comfy..A win, win in my book!
3. God, don't we all know this!! I've got to learn to move on a bit better.
4. I've decided to finally finish my personal photo wall in my home. I loved this mix of images and the simple framing used here.
5. + 6. My wonderful client and I walked through her new home today. It is a beautiful house with so much opportunity. We talked about injecting her home with moments of black and white stripes. The classic combo is perfect when done right! This Dorothy Draper designed floor is a great example of the look I adore! I'm also loving this moto jacket layered over a summery striped dress. Find a similar dress here.
