Shelter Loves...
There's something refreshing about waking up on a Friday. I usually make the last day of the work week very productive, easing into the weekend with all the boxes checked and my to do list tackled makes me feel better about enjoying some down time on the weekend. My brain does not turn off much during the week and quite frankly design projects can be all consuming. (I've been known to jot an idea down or draw a quick sketch at 4 am). I'm excited about the array of projects I'm working on and am constantly trying to create the next well executed and designed moment. Here's what sparked my interest this week! Happy Weekend - xx
1. + 2. I think I enjoy the street style better than the photos of the fashion shows during Fashion Week. NY was up this week! One thing I did spot was the resurgence and simplicity of the cotton tee. T-shirts work with just about any type of clothing - A favorite, is the Madewell version (image #1). I am purchasing all three colors of the crew neck (I already own the v-neck) Image (2) shows the versatility of this wardrobe staple. Finally, do you read 'Man Repeller"? It's a witty and well written editorial blog that covers a slew of topics and never leaves out fabulous, fashionable finds. Leandra is a wildly creative writer and her street shots of NYC this year do not disappoint.
3. Limed wood in the kitch, I also adore the use of an unexpected light above the island.
4. Beautiful stationery with custom monograms. Here are two companies that offer a beautiful selection. 1 and 2.
5. The latest necklace trend: The Cowrie choker. This one is pretty. Etsy also a number of inexpensive, casual versions.
7. The delightful illustrations and paintings by Chinese artist, Oamul Lu. To put it simply, his works make me happy.
8. Love this tidbit! #truth

1. French dressing (as I have mentioned before). I spent some time checking out all the street fashion during the "Fashion weeks" around the globe, I think Paris was my fave. I mean, look at her!! This image further confirms that my simple hair style is OK! I do own a fat barrel iron and adore the pretty curls but more often than not I don't have the time to fuss with it all. I am more of a messy bun, loose pony kind of gal.
2. Okay, I don't want to bore you with all my sweater talk, but I can't deal with itchy clothing. This one is adorable and I promise it's not scratchy!
3. I think I need these sneaks in my life!
4. I'm kind of obsessed at seeing how interesting people live. New York - Behind Closed Doors by Polly Devlin and Ann Schlecter, shares unique peek behind twenty four dynamic New Yorker's homes. .
5. We are hosting Thanksgiving this year! If I can get it together, I'll even share a look at my table setting. I am drawn to interesting layered table settings. This one hosted by Jenna Bush Hager caught my eye last weekend. The beautiful menus were created by Poppy Cox Ink.
6. Last year as some of you may recall I dressed as Wonder Woman for Halloween, this year I am keeping it simple and am dressing as a stylish black cat. This kitty mask will perfectly finish off my costume.
7. No one is you!! I love this.
8. I was searching for client art pieces this week and came across the work of Joanne Ho. Her whimsical drawings and water colors draw you in with their saturated color and attention to detail. Joanne will paint commissioned pieces.

Hello Friday 💗. With no meetings on tap today, I honestly could have worked from the comfort of my bed. It's been windy and rainy all week and we are all ready for some sun shine up in here! Besides the hilarious posts on Man Repeller , here's what else made me happy this week!
1. I design a lot of kitchens, I'm always searching for new inspiration that has not been shared everywhere.. This kitchen is so cool, I also appreciate a house that looks lived in..Don't you??
2. I need, want and must get a signet bag. This green and snake skin version is dynamite!!
3. I am always on the hunt for a boot with a narrow
4. Which brings me to number three, the boots in number in numero two would look fab just like this! You could rock a trash bag Olivia!!
5. God I love gorgeous flowers...I think I'd get married again just to choose the flowers..(kidding of course) this arrangement is so textural and interesting!
6. I am not saying don't consider others but by all means consider your happiness too. Nuff said.
7. UMMMM, Giovanna is the master of chic and cool.. I have been watching her all over fashion the "weeks". Her street attire is usually my favorite! She wore this look during NY fashion week. I still LOVE me some leopard. This dress and you Giovanna, are phenom.

It's amazing what a 45 degree Friday can do for your state of mind! We're cooking with ideas over here at Shelter....Here's what I've had my eye on this week. If you're looking for more inspo and you don't follow me on Pinterest, find me here.
1. I have naturally wavy hair and may try to embrace the curl more. I'm going to try this with my barrel roller iron. Her hair is fabulous!!
2. + 4. I have been obsessed with Pyne Hollyhock fabric for some time and need to find a project for it! It was originally used by the great Albert Hadley in the early 1960's on his client Nancy "Princess" Pyne's home in New Jersey. It still feels fresh today.
3. AMEN.
5. Yes, ruffles are still hot for Spring! I've been eyeing this sweater for a while. It may need to come and live in my closet.
6. I don't think I'm a candidate for a capsule wardrobe but I do need to refine my closet and purge anything I haven't worn in two years! I want to organize my things so I can ACTUALLY see my clothing....Image via.
7. Jules always looks adorable. I love how a casual outfit can still feel uber chic.
8. Okay, so my parent's got these wonderfully yummy caramels as a gift. (I would know, I ate about four) They are hand crafted using the milk from 40 of the most adorable goats (I have a soft spot for goats) in southern Vermont. Their branding, the couple's concept and the farm all look perfect. I plan to visit "Big Picture Farm" with my children on one of my trips up North this Summer!! (more photos of the farm below)
People and places like are what make Vermont feel like my home away from home!! (insert heart and prayer hands)

Thank god for Fridays! (insert prayer emoji). In keeping with my life, my week was a little cray but I am thankful for that. Busy weeks mean more fabulous clients and healthy kids, all good things in my book. Here is what has been on my radar.....I LOVE finding inspiration in everyday life, so if you see something you are dying to share never hesitate to drop me a line or an email with something great!
Wishing you a fabulous and peaceful weekend...
Here we go....
1. Hand woven tapestries like this one from India will infuse your interior with depth and interest. What is really better than something hand made?? I would hang this on a dark wall for contrast.
2. This image resonated with me..First off, I wear my hair like this
3. How fun are these??? Resort wear anyone?? Find them here.
4. A simple thought with powerful results!!
5. Okay, I need to google research to see if magnolia leaves would actually survive two weeks in New England but I love the idea of having these beautiful greens woven into my wreath. (have I mentioned I love natural holiday decor?) Purchase this wreath on Etsy here.
6. This stewart plaid shirt is pretty cute, love the way they have it styled here!! (not sure I am the bow tie type though)
7. A bank of windows above a sink opens up a kitchen beautifully. If I get the chance to build or rehab a larger someday, this is something I will do!

Shelter Loves - Monday edition.....
Hello November! I'm not sure how you already arrived but I am actually excited to embrace the colder weather and holiday season this year. Friday was bananas and I am taking care of a sick child, so here is a late afternoon Monday edition of all the goodies and greatness I am loving right now!
1. There is something soothing about this time of year. I cherish the moments of snuggling on the sofa, wrapped in a blanket, next to a warm fire with my kids, boyfriend or kitty. (and sometimes all four)
Pendleton has a fabulous collection of blankets, find them here.
2. We all have "wish lists"...Visiting the French Alps is pretty close to the top for me, especially during ski season.
3. A good friend of mine told me to rent and watch the 2015 version of Cinderella with my daughter. We watched it last night, the overall message was wonderful. I attempt daily to instill the importance of kindness and courage to my children.
4. I adore beautifully wrapped gifts. I also have been drawn to over sized doors and clean white clapboards. I plan to buy my paper early this year.
5. Cozy boots are a go to for me. These Mou booties are precious. Purchase them here.
6. I love a layered bar set up, this image is welcoming and fun! I just restyled my own bar with an over sized lacquered tray...it is so functional during the holidays, I may host Thanksgiving again this year. Image via: One King's Lane.
7. We are having a cabinet painted Jade Green for a project tomorrow...Jade is a wonderful shade to wear this time of year..Similar bracelet here, wearing a number of slightly different bracelets stacked together creates an impactful look!

Hola, I'm keeping things short and sweet around here today! I snuck in a "chill" yoga class with my friend Tammi this am! I need to do that more often. I'm feeling relaxed and colorful today. Here is what is on my radar this week. Happy Friyay!
1. It's sweater and fair isle season. I would wear this Boden version in a smaller size with skinny jeans and great flat boots.
2. I was sorry to miss Eddie's book signing last night at Hudson. I had a birthday dinner so I could not make it!
3. Ahhh, yes! Or at least throw the room off with something unexpected!
4. I wear glasses to drive. In fact my night vision seems to be getting worse. eek. I need a new pair of glasses and am going to try the free at home trial with Warby Parker. The prices are right and I would rather not feel rushed at a store. I am kinda liking the Baxter and the Jennings. Heavy glasses over power my face, these feel a bit lighter.
5. + 6. Okay so I am slightly obsessed with team Gen + Ben's style. Their colorful and graphic designs really resonate with me. Check out the duo's amazingly creative firm here and their home feature on One King's Lane here. ONE WORD: GAH!!

Shelter Loves (a rare Monday edition)
HELLO, HELLO. I am back! I ended up getting struck down by that damn stomach bug on Thursday. So I honestly could barely get out of bed on Friday. What's worse than "that" bug? I say not much! It's been kicking my butt since I was a kid......
Here is what is making me happy today!! Cheers to a fabulous week. I could certainly use one, how about you!?
1. Have I mentioned I live for the beach? Pretty much everything about it is my therapy. The water warms up here in August, so I am looking forward to going swimming. (this is not me ;)
2. And this suit?? Kiini is the label and Ipek Irgit is the designer.
3/5 Lee Kleinhelter does it again!! Her new amazing home is featured in this month's Atlanta Home's magazine. Look how fabulous her closet is!!! Wonderful job Lee! I also adore her store Pieces too. ( I wish my bedroom looked as chic as her daughters)
4. This is pretty much a staple look for me. I would however like to know where this shirt is from. I like how the sleeves stopped the stripes 3/4 of the way up.
6. So True! (I'm gonna bold this one)
7. Isn't this a pretty little number??

TGIF!! You've got to love Fridays! Today I've put together some of my recent favorites!! Hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
1. Have you guessed yet that this is my favorite time of year? I love the look of an all white dress or outfit. This pleated dress is on sale and is adorable. I have a similar one in coral!
2. These bags are fab! I need one...I love amazing European finds....The Brits along with the French do fashion SO well. Tote from Rae Feather.
3. Since my divorce I have wanted to buy myself a sweet little ring, this is a contender. As is one from Cartier.
4. I have to use this Cole and Sons wallpaper on a project. It reminds me of the work of Japanese artist Hokusai. The MFA is currently running a Hokusai exhibit. I am going to take my daughter. She studied his work in camp this week. I love the idea of introducing art and culture from around the world to my children.
5.+ 7. My adorable friend Kristin got a new bike this week. It's a bright yellow cruiser. I've always wanted one of these retro numbers. She may have inspired me to make the splurge...I am torn between watermelon and aqua!! I like the lines of the Nadine one but the price tag of the Schwinn.
6. Yes, please on this bathroom and tile!!
8. This makes so much sense to me lately. #celebrate diversity!!
xx

I haven't vanished from planet earth, but between end of year school celebrations, field trips, my wonderful clients, numerous camp applications and gardening... I have not had a minute to blog. If I don't blog, it means I most likely don't have time to eat, do laundry or much else for that matter...so never take it personally. Love y'all...;)
My summer mode is a more casual one. In fact, much like a couple of my pregnant clients, I prefer to nest during June. (no I am not preggers). We have been busy in the yard and with my house, that makes me so happy. Here is what is happening in life all around!! ( I am also breaking my no wine on Tuesday rule right now - sorry bikini belly)
Shoes: Comfy shoes. Sorry, heels are chic as hell but don't make much sense for designers. I tend to wear flats unless I am heading out at night. (then heels are my friend)
Nail Polish: Second Honeymoon is one of my favorite nail shades! It looks great with a hint of a tan.
Clam Bake: I want to have a clam bake this summer! We have been growing a new lawn and much to my surprise, it is coming in nicely!!
Plates: I love entertaining during the summer. What is better than dining al fresco with good food and friends? Not much. These small plates from Anthro are adorable and would be so useful.I
Short Wellies: The kids, Matty and I have been gardening. We actually planted a small veggie and herb garden over the weekend. I am hoping it does well. I love planting flowers but haven't planted too many veggies in the past. To make a salad from my garden would be a dream. I wore my wellies to garden and think I may even buy a short pair to use all the time in the yard. The best part is they hose off beautifully when done. Planting can get messy but there is something therapeutic about getting your hands and feet in the mud! Boot here.
Herb Garden: Loving this. Mine is right outside my kitchen window and we boxed it in.
Sangria: I love a fresh sangria, this recipe doesn't use sugar, which is my preference! (see recipe and source below)
Quote: Think about this.... (quote from one of my favorite books)
|
Sangria:
- 1 bottle of sweet white wine
- 1 bottle of champagne
- 1 orange
- 1/2 lemon
- 1 cup raspberries
- 1 cup blueberries
- 12 strawberries
- 1 cup 100% pineapple juice
- 1/4 cup brandy (optional)
- 1/4 cup honey (optional to sweeten the sangria if needed)
Instructions
- Pour the white wine and pineapple juice into a large pitcher.
- Wash and cut the fruit and add to the pitcher.
- Refrigerate for at least 3 hours, but up to 1 day.
- Just before serving, pour in champagne and brandy and stir well.
- Garnish with fruit and enjoy!

I've had a very productive week but I am always happy to see Friday. Thank you to my parents for helping out with the kiddies during this vacation week! I have been designing like crazy, so I'm feeling pretty inspired. I have a number of amazing projects at all different stages. I'll be sure to share a "happenings" post soon! Here is what is on my radar.
1. Okay, I'll come clean. My heat is still on 70. It's very chilly here today and I refuse to sit around and freeze. This will basically be my attire when we take the kids out for pizza tonight. I also must be getting old because if I'm not going to a client meeting I'm a pretty casual dresser. Luckily it's a trend! I am buying these espadrilles today. (another trend I love) I am on the fence as to which color.
2. I never tire of stripes. I just started a design project with a client I worked for in the past. She has fabulous taste and also loves stripes. She used stripes in her the hallway of her brownstone and now we need to find a place to incorporate them into her new home. Stripes in a hallway add interest to what is often just circulation space. Why not make it beautiful? Image: Elle Decor
3. Matty cleared out the side yard at my home.(Thanks baby!!) It looks great. Now it is my turn to start planting. I'm going to devise a plan and have decided to incorporate pale pink Poppies. I love the warm pink contrasted with the black center. (side note: Poppy is also our cat's name)
4. I adore chinoiserie. This fabric would be a great starting point for a little girl's room.
5. I love the idea of using a fretwork pattern on a porch or as a stair baluster.
6. I've been looking for an inexpensive mirror for my daughter's room. (I'll do anything to try and get her to brush her hair!!!!! ) This one is a great deal.
7. I'm getting good at this!! I credit my divorce. See, something good always comes from something bad!

1. These fabulous baskets by artist Eliza Gran. She sells them at a number of shops. I love Amber's colorful shop, she has them too!! They would make a fun Easter basket!!
2. So true!! Take risks and dream big!
3. I am adoring the v-back shirts and sweaters trend this spring. Find a similar one here.
4. Navy is a great alternative to black in the spring and summer months. This classic Tod bag would last you a life time.
5. I've created an "if I ever" board on Pinterest. Follow it here...It's filled with "if I ever" moments, such as: If I ever get married again, If I ever get a dog, etc. I think you get the picture. In any case, If I ever get married again (cause who knows, right?) There are pros and cons to being single and being married!! It is surprising how quickly you (or I did) adjust to not being married any longer. I do love this table setting and would envision a small, intimate, casual wedding. I would almost be tempted to purchase and ensemble my own flower vases for one big long family style table!
6. Ahhh, my design office. It's in the works. I plan to share the design board with you next week. The before space is a bit scary and I will share those photos as well. I came across the image shown this week. It got me thinking about how fun it would be to have a remote office set up in a small detached building behind my house!! It is far enough away not to stress me out when I am trying to relax but close enough to walk to work in the am!! ;)
7. How great are these luggage tag neck charms?? There is one available for almost every city in the U.S. and a number of cities abroad. Available from Jet Set Candy.
Cheers, I'm going to pour myself a glass of wine and make tacos!!

| Wow, big surprise, it snowed again!!! One of my favorite things about blogging, besides reaching out to the world and my wonderful readers, is the focused attention it takes. When I am blogging I am lost in another world and only thinking of creating..This morning I virtually visited Palm Beach! In a way, this escape, is free therapy but without the co-pay, sidewards looks or leaving the house!! ;) 1. I designed this kitchen for a young family and posted it a couple of weeks ago. (photo below). I had a few readers ask for the source of the art. Often times, out of respect for my client's, I do not share all of my design sources. In this case, I will. The artist's name is: Donna Walker. I love the colors in her paintings. See more of her work here. This piece perfectly completed this colorful kitchen. |

2. I know milkshakes are usually a warm weather treat, but I may break the rules today and order a chocolate/peanut-butter version at the diner down the street. Yum! Here is the recipe for this one!!
3. Palm Springs is a destination on my wish list!! I may have to book a trip to this place sooner than later. ;) Image is: of the Viceroy designed by Kelly Wearstler.
4. I can't wait to break out my moto jacket this Spring. I am OVER my down jacket this season!
5. How cute are these horn and gold bangles?? Yup, very!
6. LOVE this thought! By Rachel Castle.
7. Because coral toe nails make me think of summer and would look lovely in those (to the right) cork DVF sandals!
8. Loving these fabulous DVF sandals, cork pairs beautifully with so many summery hues.
Happy Friday. xoxox

| Here is this week's round up. We are in need of some serious pretty and color up in here!! The snow, don't get me started on the snow!! The 100+" (no joke) of white stuff we have around here is starting to get to everyone. I've been trying to keep a very positive attitude this winter. In fact, I've been beginning my day with a few daily affirmations. They actually seem to be helping. With that said, I could STILL use a little color and warmth in my life right about now! How about you?? 1. Loving Tory's latest spring bag collection. Look at all that color!! These would pair well add the perfect pop of color with a neutral outfit.. 2. This yellow trench from J. Crew is adorable! Yellow is a hot color this Spring. You'll be seeing lots of it. 3. PEACE - we all need a bit more of it... 4. I am going to a fund raising gala next Saturday night and am going to wear my hair up. I want to incorporate a braid into the look. I feel younger in braids. :) 5. Kelly Klien's Palm Beach house is gorgeous and yes peaceful. 6. My skin can't get enough moisture this winter. I wash my face and moisturize every night...I thought I'd give this Dior cream a try! I tweak my routine every six months or so. It has great reviews!! 7. How about this watch? The tortoise is pretty cool!! |

Happy Thursday!! I did a killer work out this a.m. so I'm very much looking forward to treating myself to a glass of wine tonight..In order to feel healthier I've been preparing most of my own meals and trying not to drink my nightly glass of wine on Monday-Wednesday. I've also been drinking this detox tea everyday! Here is what is inspiring me this week!!
1. How clean and inviting does this room look? It has a sense of calm to it that I'm drawn to. I also love the large windows and natural light.
2. I'm looking forward to wearing my little leather jacket again. This one is really cute by J.Crew. I adored the ivory too but it's sold out..booo
3. Back to my comment about cooking. I need to try some new recipes. I thought this one sounded easy and looked yummy. I love seafood, so I would definitely add the shrimp!
4. Repeat and repeat!
5. These would make a pretty addition to your Valentine's Day outfit!!

1. I have to give a loving shout out to my hometown of Marshfield, Ma. I love living in this seaside town...but living near the water has drawbacks during large storms. I am thankful my home and family were all safe during the blizzard this week, but much of my town was under water and a number of people lost their homes due to the storm surge. My thoughts are with them! xo
The picture of the beach above is about five minutes from my home. The second picture (below it) was taken yesterday during the high tide. The water literally took over much of the small village area of Brant Rock. I have never seen this area so flooded in my life, the waves were crashing over the seawall and into homes. ( I grew up in Marshfield and am back after leaving for 17 years).
2. Sometimes we all need to remind ourselves of this...
3. I love a feminine mix of floral and leopard print. This image is making me rethink my daughter's room rug choices.
4. Art is subjective, but these cheery watercolor prints by Sarah Martinez would add a beautiful pop of color to your home or office.
5. As you know Superbowl Sunday is this weekend! Go Pats! I am heading to a friend's house. I think I may bring these. They look somewhat healthy, right?? This entire site is filled with yummy recipes.
6. I love layering graphic tees under blazers and sweaters this time of year.

Shelter Loves....
Happy Wednesday. I hope you're having a great week! I have the holidays on my mind! There are certain elements that I am especially drawn to this year. Read on for the deets!
1. Bright red and tartan plaid. There are some things that just don't go out of style. Tartan plaid is one of them. I love tartan with skinny dark jeans, under a fur vest or paired with a skirt and tights like shown in this picture of Blair . I am going to order this classic shirt to wear this holiday season.
2. I am continually scouting for great finds. I wish I had a spot for this light fixture!
3. Because we ALL obsess...
4. I'd love to use this Kelly Wearstler, Groundworks - Feline pattern soon!! Again, next house!
5. Loving the idea of incorporating fruit into garland.
6. Something about this mix of organic finishes and rustic details is very inviting. That sheep skin throw is so beautiful. I think the pup agrees ..... :)

WOW! How is November almost over and Thanksgiving just two days away? I wanted to share today's post before I head out to run a zillion errands. There's lots to love lately.....Here is a round up of my current favorites!
1. I have a fireplace and I'm going to light it for the first time on Thursday! Everything about a fire instantly warms up a home. This simple screen is the one I'd like to have...
2. You can't go wrong with a little suede bootie. I live in them all winter season. This is the Fulton by TB. Adorbs! ;)
3. Art work brings depth and a personal touch to your living space. I discovered this piece by artist Kindah Khalidy on Furbish Studio yesterday.
4. J. Crew is having a 30% off your entire purchase sale today. This cozy look is adorable...buy all the pieces here. (Have I mentioned I am slightly obsessed with vests?)
5. So TRUE! I admit, I love staying in and relaxing.....especially by a fire with a glass of wine and a good movie.
6. I think I found a new favorite designer. These pieces by Martin Grant are both sophisticated and sexy = a winning combo no doubt! I wish I had a dressy event to wear this belted bustier top to this winter!!

Shelter Loves...
![]() |
Friyay at last!!! I've been working from my home office all week. I haven't felt up to venturing out much with this puffy face and semi-black eye. This has however given me a chance to work on some design boards for my fabulous clients. I, I'm sure like you, tend to overbook myself on a weekly basis.
It has been productive working only from home..... Here is what I'm adoring today!
1. These Sorel boots. They tend to sell out, so I'm purchasing my pair early this year. I know the slush and sleet (boo) are right around the corner! The farmer's almanac is predicting a chilly, stormy winter. ;)
2. I was sad to hear of Oscar de la Renta's passing. He was truly one of America's most beloved fashion designers. His career spanned half a century. I've always admired his beautiful haute couture creations. I've read he was a wonderful mentor. One of his most recent wedding designs graced bride Amal Alamuddin Clooney this past September.
3. My post wouldn't be complete without a weekly quote.... They truly inspire me!
4. This COAT! And it's on sale at J.Crew. Code: TGIFall
5. Various colors trend in kitchen design. (some of my new favorites include shades of grey) I will however never tire of a clean, classic white kitchens. I actually just had a client's photographed last week.
