turning inward

I've decided to embrace Fall, 'tis the season for nesting in my world. Cooking yummy comfort food, sipping warming cocktails, snuggling with a cozy blanket and a good book, and entertaining with great apps and music is on tap for me this Autumn. I love the idea of setting up a well stocked bar with vintage antique sterling accessories. Warm comforting hues and preppy "library" style are perfect right now....

2. A little leopard goes a long way and would complete this look beautifully.

4. The velvet slipper is one of the "must" have comfies for this Fall. Tory Burch
5. My cocktail choice. (Maybe someday I'll warm up to a good scotch, a sip or two is about what I can drink now). El Tesoro with a splash of sour, lime and salted rim carries me through the summer and into the Fall. (along with red wine of course)
6. The XX - coexist, this is their new album. I love this band's cool sound.
7. I can't wait to overhaul my glass collection when I move. These gold spotted beauties would work!! via Bed, Bath and Beyond.
8. I have one more classic book to read before the year's end. (it was a part of my January resolution list).

MAY Recommended: Music of the month - Beastie Boys

I'm sure you've heard about the sad passing of Beastie Boy hip hop trio member, Adam Yauch. Adam was only 47. I was going to post May's music choice today, so I couldn't think of a better selection. I grew up listening to the Beastie Boys. (I think I'm dating myself).  I'd say Licensed to Ill reminds me more of drinking in the woods in (you know you all had those "hot spots" with crazy names like "The Plateau" in H.S. - or maybe not, we absolutely did)  High School then any other album and Paul's Boutique of college. (Run DMC and Madonna are very close seconds).

A newly made friend (don't you love it when you randomly meet a new person, who's not only laid back and cool but loves music maybe even more then you? I do. ) recently recommended this band and cd to me! I'd have to say this is my new favorite band, so I HAD to pass it along to you. This young, indie rock band hails from England.  Their sound is funky and their beats are smooth. This is a CD you put on, listen to and love every track.

Of Note - Duffy

I am a HUGE fan of Duffy's music. I am anxiously awaiting the release of her new CD, titled ENDLESSLY.

Her new song Celebration was leaked via the Internet on Wednesday night. The album is due out in September.

Michael clearly had some issues...but his passing has absolutely recalled past memories for me. I know I am dating myself. But I'll never forget my middle school friend Jen's "M.T.V. Thriller Party". We were giddy for the release of the Thriller video. Micheal was a tortured soul, but very talented none the less. His early music was amazing! I'll never tire of songs like "Don't Stop 'Till you Get Enough" {Off The Wall} and "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin" {Thriller}. Thriller remains the best selling album of all time!

This week's music + read of the month

I thought this book would be a perfect suggestion this month; with flea market + yard sale season in full swing!

I actually recommended, Only By The Night by Kings of Leon over the winter. I'm still loving this c.d., so it's returning to the side bar! Cheers + Have a great week. Revelry is an amazing song that hasn't hit the radio yet.
