Ride on...

I'm not buying much this Fall as far as shoes and clothing goes...but I am going to invest in a pair of fitted riding boots. They are classic, and work so well with skinny pants and jeans..Pictured are a few of my favorites. In order: Frye, Tory Burch, Frye and ? i will get back to you on this one.

I also love how timeless the sport of riding is. I secretly hope my daughter wants to ride someday.{hell maybe I'll just take riding lessons myself}. Equestrian style blends so beautifully with a classic home.

A place of one's own.

I need to make some changes at my home, so I started with my bedroom. My Mom who is the sweetest person around insisted on taking me shopping for some new bedding. I couldn't find exactly what I wanted so I opted for an all white 650 thread count duvet. I am going to splurge on two monogrammed pillow cases to add some interest to the mix.  I'm inspired by both of the above images. I want to add feminine flourishes, a bit of unexpected glamour and soft details. I also need to design a headboard. I feel some creative sketching coming on............

Have a great one! xx. J

Lantern Love - Julie Neill Designs

I've been looking for lanterns for two different projects, one local and one remote. I love the clean but classic touch a lantern adds to both traditional and modern spaces. I'm currently loving the lantern designs by New Orleans designer Julie Neill. Most of her designs and can be adjusted to fit your environment. All the lighting on her site is gorgeous. Tobi Fairley custom designed the red fixture shown above. I think it's my favorite.

Picture Perfect - Room(s) of the week!

I don't tend you use my blog as a personal sounding board but if you're a fellow blogger you may agree that blogging does provide a "sort of" therapeutic escape. This has been one of the worst weeks of my entire life. It's amazing how some things in life are truly out of our control. It was supposed to be a happy week, my birthday is today, but the last thing I am going to do is celebrate. This "picture perfect" post is a short "virtual home tour", instead of one room.  I needed to post these warm, comforting images today.

I truly want this blog to be a place that you all come for inspiration. I hope you enjoy my selected images and thank you for being so great. I always appreciate your comments. This blog wouldn't exist without YOU! So do bear with me if my posts are a little lean over the next few weeks. xx.

Designer Digs - Elie Saab

I love catching a sneak peek inside of designer's homes. They usually don't disappoint. I was viewing Elie Saab's Spring couture collection and had remembered his beautiful homes ...they are as stunning as his elegant fashions. So here's a look into the Lebanese born, Parisian designer's Parisian and Lebanon digs.. they both mix elegant with masculine, old with new.  The interplay of modern and classical architectural details are gorgeous. Both interiors were designed by Chakib Richani.

and in Beirut, Lebanon

one of my favorite looks from his Spring collection.

Contemplating

The cape trend.  I'm not sure I'd wear one enough. I do love the look though, her entire outfit is fab.

When to hit the road today. I'm heading up to Vermont with my little ones for the weekend..
How if I ever have enough dough to buy a house in Nantucket, then I'll surely have enough extra cash to pick up a vintage Jeep Wagoneer. This 1973 version recently sold for around $13,000. Sweet.

I am of course contemplating bigger life issues, like world hunger, politics etc. but I prefer to keep this blog on the light side. I'll leave the tough topics to The Times..
