I promise to return with lots of goodies soon...In the meantime be sure to check out my "Style File" post over at La Dolce Vita today!! Thanks for having me Paloma! here is a peek from Paloma's post, some of my favorite things: Fabric: Quadrille's Alan Campbell and China Seas line. I also find Lulu Dk very inspiring, her collages and art work are genius! Favorite Food : French Bistro - Bistro Cooking at home is one of my all time favorite cook books, every recipe I have ever made is AMAZING! One {among a few} Fashion Icons - Grace Kelly. I am loving the 50's-60's inspired clothing this Fall. Add a bit of an edge to the outfit and you're all set! Hope you're having a great day! |

The White House
I know most people are thinking of warm colors associated with Fall right now but lately I've been drawn to the simplicity and elegance of a mostly white house exterior. I think an almost/all white palette allows the surronding lanscape and architectural details to take on a life of their own!

Inspired!
I'm often asked by people, "What inspires you?"
Today's answer: My students! My list is long and varied. I'm constantly stumbling upon inspiration everywhere, everyday, all the time! I love what I do and I feel blessed to have discovered my "calling" per say.
As most of you know, I don't just practice interior design, I teach it at Endicott College and Suffolk University {New England School of Art and Design}. I am always pushing my student's ideas. If they succeed it means I have done my job well! I often discuss the importance of strong concepts, and how they should be somewhat abstracted! Literal design looks juvenile to me..Yes, throw in an ounce of kitch or a nod to the obvious..but always keep it fresh and unique! I was discussing using simple objects, en masse {or in large groupings} and how something very common can take on a sculptural quality when used unexpectedly and in large quantities. Well my student was inspired by Anthropologie's window displays..They practice this very idea! Gorgeous! I'd have to agree with her!!! Well Done.
Milk jug igloo? Brilliant..

Lighting Love
Come Fall, I'm all about my home. My clients {new and existing} are usually anxious to rehab new spaces too! It's such a fun time of year! Right now I'm all about mixing organic elements with modern. This light fixture by artist Deanna Wish would be a stunning addition to most interior styles! They are crafted from tree branches and can be painted any color you wish! I found this particular chandelier from the great home store Boxwood Home. {images below}

In a nut shell!
Lizzie turned her basement into a wine cellar!
{Lizzie painted the rug herself - I love the mix of pink and red}
