Natural Chic

My design style/tastes are sort of all over the board. When it comes to design concepts and your home, it's tough to settle on one genre..and we don't have to, that's what makes design so fun!
I love color, a shot of glamour, Hollywood Regency...My list could go on and on...
but there is something about a clean, neutral space, full of an array of textiles and subtle tones that is very appealing....peaceful really.
Here is a sampling of some beautiful, "naturally chic" rooms.

Artist: One to know about.....CHARLEY HARPER

Green Jay, 1956.

As a designer, I am continually influenced by the world around me. A trip to a museum is the perfect way to escape the heat, rain or snow. Artists never cease to fascinate or inspire me!!

Charley Harper, the amazingly talented illustrator and designer is at the top of my list!
His wildlife images are uplifting, colorful, crisp and modern. There are an array of books available, featuring Charley's work.

http://www.ammobooks.com/, carries a limited edition series of silk screened books. Beautiful!
http://www.amazon.com/, carries a number of Children's items, including blocks that aren't available yet but, may be "pre-ordered"

This children's book cover would be the fabulous starting point for a nursery!!

Chair or Sculpture?

I have a small obsession with chairs.... I love how chairs have their own personality, each so unique.
I rarely choose a matching table and chairs. Sculptural chairs look gorgeous with very simple dining, cocktail or side tables. Pair rustic with modern and vice versa.... but most importantly make sure it's a comfortable place to sit. Butterfly Chair - www.McGuirefurniture.com, designed by Edward Tuttle

NOTES

I've decided to post my recommended read monthly instead of weekly!!

Also if you haven't heard of http://www.ebates.com/, it's a must see. Earn $$$ for shopping, now I like the sound of that!!

OH Baby!

Pottery Barn in general has been looking great lately, if you haven't seen their latest home catalog, check it out. They've mixed it up a bit!!! Finally. For a few years I wouldn't even open my catalog, it went straight to the recycle bin.

I started to look at Pottery Barn kids when I was pregnant...This year's baby section is very fresh and fun! They are now offering a custom fabric line section. Each fabric is sold by the yard. The damask pictured below is beautiful!! This fabric would look great in any room!

Read on for a sampling of some of their new items!!

Happy Monday!

Floor to ceiling drapes in the pear color would be fabulous. Or if drapes aren't in the budget, a pair of 24" pillows welted in solid pear would liven up any space.

Custom fabrics - sold by the yard

Custom bumpers, so cute. Mix the polka dot, pear and damask for a layered look.

When I was preggers, I looked everywhere for felt baskets to outfit my little one's nursery, that
was only a year ago.

I had to throw these in, aren't they adorable?

They always carried these great totes, but they finally added more colors!!
I love the large buckets. Perfect for everything from laundry to toys.

Adorable monkey print, the quilt is very David Hicks
The monkey print also comes in drapes.

They also added a modern line to their furniture collection.

This fun desk comes in three colors, it's a piece that could grow with your child;
It would also make a nice dressing table for Mommy.

I may have to purchase this cashmere and cotton blanket for the Fall Season.

CRAVING COLOR

Aqua, Turquoise, Blue-Green.....depending on the intensity,
these colors can either calm or energize a space

Many of Red Egg's pieces come in turquoise, www.redegg.com
Love the screen in their Moderne Maru line!!!

Can envision this piece filled with miss-matched white china and porcelain
