Cottage Love #60 - 2018

Eek, I found a goodie to kick off the Cottage Love series for 2018! Well, here we are in the midst of the suckiest coldest time of year in New England. I can either embrace it with a cozy down vibe in my home and for my wardrobe or I could complain. I am guilty of a little bit of bitching, especially when I come out to an ice covered walkway, car and driveway in the early am - (which happened this am). Designer Jennifer Schoenberger's Atlanta home is full of warm moments with an edge. I am drawn to her sultry use of fabrics and the rich, neutral color palette. The cypress clad family room alone was enough to stop me in my tracks! See for yourself: Read more here. Photography by Lauren Rubenstein.

Natural living....

I just returned from my trip to Bermuda. We had a fabulous time! Technically I'm still on vacation (because I promised myself a full week off - I take about seven days in a row off about once a year)

It's hard to believe that a two hour plane ride can transport you to paradise. I'm always inspired when I travel....This home isn't in Bermuda but it does share some of the traits I did see...which include textural fibers, mixed finishes of natural and painted woodwork in the same spaces, pops of color and graphic stripes. The interiors appear more peaceful, while the exteriors were colorful and bright. I'll be sure to share some photos of my wonderful trip, I just haven't gotten that far yet!

au naturale

A naturally inspired color palette need not be boring! Contrast, texture, and pattern will truly make any look or design soar! (above - I love how effective the three zebra pillows are at grounding this entire room). tip: when something is looking flat: add contrast, it typically works every time!

Inspired! Aerin in Aspen

Some people live the most glamorous (or what appear to be) glamorous lives. Don't get me wrong, I'm very thankful for all that I have and that I am able to steal away to my parent's cabin in Vermont, thanks to their wise planning and generosity.

But seriously, Aerin Lauder's homes all possess a certain "move right in" quality. Her latest digs are no exception. Her newly furnished and renovated earthy, chic, simple but luxurious Aspen home contains sweeping views, a fairly neutral palette and sculptural wooden furniture classics by Hans Wegner and George Nakashima. It's the perfect balance of crisp but cozy. And the view? Breath taking. A freshly, fallen snow on a sunny morning with an expansive tree top mountain view? It doesn't get much better then that!!

I love Birch Trees. They line the drive way at my parent's Vermont home.
I'm certainly going to hit the slopes this year! I think my four year old son is ready to try skiing. I've taken too long of a break from this sport! Here's a bit of fashion inspiration.

Inspired - Brad Ford Design

{images: Hampton Showhouse}
I often don't have the time to slow down..I'm usually running from one place to the next..busy, busy, busy with my babe's, my business, my blog..you name it..but now and again I try to take the time to absorb information, new ideas, architecture, nature, fashion, art etc..for inspiration. Today I'm sharing the work of New York based designer Brad Ford. His designs are classic but modern, they possess a sculputural quality without being too precious..his mix of texture, use of light and color and array of "found objects" with a hint of masuclinity are both engaging and unpredicatable..in my book, he has mastered the art of "good design"! okay, I'm off and running {again} to a contractor meeting....have a good day!
