Kitchen Love..

I've been slightly obsessed with kitchens lately..maybe it's because I'm starting to reach my limit with my own kitchen, it desperately needs an overhaul. ooooo but isn't this one a doozy? I'm sensing a classic, tailored, menswear, meets modern farm house kind of inspiration going on here. It's working for me, I might change the chairs and the hardware to add a hint of femininity {for myself anyway} but other then that, designer Tommy Smythe was right on!

I am also going through big Kitchen Obsession lately so this is fine with me if you have one too .. plus I do think this is one of the Best kitchens I have seen yet.

One thing I did learn while renovating our apt and putting in a new kitchen, the stainless steel counters are noisy. Clanging and banging noisy.

So I would stick with granite or tile but it does look fabulous :)

Wow. The herringbone-patterned floor. That lantern. The black doors and windows. What I also think is amazing (I followed your link to his FB page), is that he said he did this kitchen about 7 years ago! It looks so current and fresh. Good taste never goes out of style. Love Tommy!

When I build my own home, I know I'm going to have trouble deciding on black, white or natural woodwork. Maybe I can do black white and mahagony?

This one IS a winner! I adore dark cabinets on the base but white upper cabinets. Its a good mix of moody and airy at the same time.

I'm trying to convince my guy to do this in our own space but he thinks its too "crazy." (Obviously he is the crazy one!)

Love love this kitchen the black cupboards are so sharp. One of the prettiest transformations I ever did on a kitchen was one with black cupboards. It is a brave statement but Oh what a great statement it makes,Kathysue

Love this kitchen! Does anyone know where to get a lantern like this? I need one for a client. A big one.
Thanks!

What a really good looking kitchen. My kitchen is not bad, but it was what the previous owner selected. It just doesn't float my boat.
This kitchen would float my boat.
Thanks for posting.

Thank you for sharing this post. This kitchen is wonderful. I have to say, the floor is pretty cool and unique because most homeowners will go for a lighter shade than this. Your backsplash is also fantastic! The material and choice of color just complements the dark shaded floor and cabinets. There is an amazing work in here. This will certainly inspire many.

“Classics are always in style” is what I always say. When designing a room it is important to have a theme in mind. Especially in the kitchen where most of the heavy lifting occurs floors should be durable without losing the look you want for it. In this kitchen the herringbone design and color of the floor just shouts luxury and class while still be able to take a beating. It is such a beautiful kitchen that is complemented by a beautiful floor. Thank you for this great article!
