Sweet Dreams

I'm off to bed, it's been a long week! My daughter has been waking up at 5 a.m.. Any tips on how to change this?? She's 15 months old and I don't think I've slept past 6 a.m. in six months.
I still need to finish up my bedroom room . I couldn't help but add a dose of color to this space {maybe yellow or kelly green or violet - violet would be chic.} The fur throw would need to be fake, nor would it take over the entire bed like this one, but there is something very sexy and glamorous about this room! Sweet Dreams.

I remember the feeling...it's not very nice! Hope she settles in and wakes up a bit later for you...In the meantime perhaps you could have a break on a saturday or a sunday morning - if your hubby is there...?
I know couldn't have survived without some help!
Good luck!

Make sure your little girls room is nice and dark.
I think we'd all dream better and later in a dark cave with a bed like that!

Oh Lovely..I hear you loud and clear! My little guy started doing the same thing at that age...the only way we could get another hour of out of him was to give him a bottle of milk and he would nod off again and wake up after 6...which was more bearable. He is almost 3 ( in a few months time) and he is still an early riser...around 6 -6.30...but now the nightmare is that he is waking up throughout the night and wanting to come into our bed...so we have been going through the whole musical beds for about a week now..and its painful. Just aswell they are so darn cute...makes the lack of sleep easier to forgive. Hope you find something that works for you x

Love the color and mood of this room...the first time my younger son slept through the night, he was....5 years old!! between communting to work in new York, and being up every 3 hours for years, I mastered the art of being a functioning sleep deprived, crazed at time mom.

My 15 month would get up at 6am like it was her job. We would put her in bed at 7pm every night but lately we've been keeping her up closer to 8:45pm (spending time playing outside) and this morning she woke up at 8:00am. This is such a crazy age though because nap schedule seem to be shifting too and things are a bit unpredictable. Hang in there!

Thanks for the comments.

Francine - yes at times I feel a bit crazed too. I was laughing at your comment.

I wish I could help, but we barely got to sleep at all during the first 18 months (acid reflux). I think trying to get on a routine is really important, though, and I agree about the darkness. I think keeping them up late is actually counter-productive.

The early waking has my sympathies! Its torture! Have you read the Tizzie Hall Save our Sleep toddler book, tips about extra blankets and making sure bedtime was by 7 solved the issue and now our toddlers x 2 sleep till 7:15 yay!

julie i used a book called "the contented little baby book" by gina ford. she has several books for the various baby stages. i used it for both my children and found the trouble shooting tips invalid esp w/ the dreaded 5am wake ups. what i remember is that some changes need to be made during the day to ensure sleep all the way through the night.
i gave my 1st stage book away otherwise i'd send it to you.
i do have the toddler years one, so if ur interested let me know.
i'd gladly give it to you.

Good luck!

That bedroom is gorgeous and so simply luxurious!
I think both my kids went through that phase. We either nixed one of their naps (if they still had two during the day) or put them to bed a bit later. Even a half hour later at night made a difference in the morning. Good luck!

Thanks for your tips!! I will have to check out those books. She goes down at 7 and if I keep her up later she still wakes up at 5:15! I'm sure she'll grow out of it.
