In memory of: Albert Hadley

If you're a design enthusiast I'm sure you heard the sad news of Albert Hadley's passing last Thursday.. He was 91. Hadley, known for his daring interiors. He skillfully mixed classical and modern details with a keen and perfected eye. He is truly a design icon. I especially love his attitude toward the design process. This quote sums up his beliefs beautifully. Look around today, his inspiration will live on within his own designs and certain qualities of his work will always inspire current, leading names in the design industry.
"Decorating is not about making stage sets, it's not about making pretty pictures for the magazines; it's really about creating a quality of life, a beauty that nourishes the soul."

Hadley was also known for his layered vignettes.
And the sketch of Mrs. Astor's library. His sketches were inspiring. (above photo)
This room was completed forty years ago. It looks current doesn't it?
Hadley's home in Naples. Clearly he liked yellow!

Hadley chose the exterior paint colors for this beautiful colonial home. (image: House Beautiful)
By painting the walls, floors and mantel a creamy white, Hadley created the perfect back drop for the unexpected furniture floor plan in this living room.

I also can't fail to mention my favorite wallpaper by Albert Hadley. "Fireworks". I will use this someday!

Another fabulous Hadley sketch, they're so loose and expressive
