Pardon us - Under Construction.

Pardon Shelter's appearance. My blog is getting a face lift!! The entire site should be up and running in no time.

color me pretty

I spent forty five minutes on Saturday choosing frames for an array of photos and artwork for a client! I love planning my client's designs down to the last detail! Mixing mat colors is a fun way to enliven an art wall. It works well with vintage and children's art because the end result is light-hearted!!
Another option is to keep the mat color consistent but mix the frame choices and colors!

My thoughts

My thoughts, prayers and heart are with all that are suffering the ravages of the earthquake and tsunami that hit off the coast of Japan last week. It's heartbreaking to see such devastation and loss. There are a number of ways even the smallest donation can help. For more information visit any of these sites.

One more for my "must do" list.

A few weeks ago I mentioned I was going to try and live in NYC for at least "1" year of my life! I'm also adding Paris to that "must live for at least one year" list!! The fashion and woman are so chic. {among a zillion other things} They make it look easy!!

I love my

friend Erin Gates of Elements of Style,  for one because she is fabulous, but also because she makes me laugh out loud when I read her blog. Check out her post on the new Mercedes ad campaign. She has a great way of making you feel well, normal. I am as insane as she is, that's probably why we get along so well!! I also recently realized you can't control much in life, nor figure it out; but I do know this, I am RIGHT brained!! Thanks E!
{she also writes so damn well !! }

Inspired - Warren Platner

This circulation space is beautifully utilized as a library. It's the perfect example of how a designer should consider the verticality and all four walls plus the ceiling when designing a space.
The gold leaf wall with the textural globes pictured above is gorgeous!
Warren Planter (1919-2006) was a modernist who practiced interior design and architecture in the 1960's and 70's.
He's best known for his Warren Platner chair, stool and table, designs for Knoll. The sculptural bases are made from nickel covered steel rods.  His interiors and designs were graceful, elegant and had softer lines then the work by his modernist peers. "As a designer, I felt there was room for the kind of decorative, gentle, graceful kind of design that appeared in period style like Louis XV ."
I would love the opportunity to incorporate a Warren Platner table in a transitional setting.

looking forward to Lilly

Sorry about the fuzzy bottom image, but I wanted to share it anyways.. You may have heard, {I know my fellow bloggers, and design obsessed readers have} that Lilly Pulitzer, is introducing a mid century inspired furniture line. It's a bit prep, a bit glamourous and very palm beach. I'm looking forward to seeing the pieces in person. The white tv cabinet {above left} with the blue interior looks FABULOUS!

Bow Sweet

I'm sure most of you are as happy as I am to see that Spring is just around the corner.  Spring is a time of rebirth, where everything is a little bit sweeter; including my design sense! I like the use of bows, in small doses. {things can always get too sweet}. The above examples are the perfect.

1. I love how the director of Kate Spade, Deborah Lloyd loosely tied a ribbon around her window  treatment.

Camel Leather + Blue

I'm off to a client meeting in a few. I'm schlepping a few fabric samples, two of which include camel leather and warm blues! A great combo, don't you think??
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!
