the trend + the issue

I've decided to jump on the trend wagon and purchase (one) pair of colored jeans. I have a red pair from about five years ago that I've hung onto. They're wide leg, but still look cute! So although I love red jeans I think I may opt for another shade.

The biggest issue with colored jeans is they either look REALLY cute or REALLY bad. I'm guessing I'll have to try on twenty pairs to get it right. My teeny-tiny friend had on a royal blue pair last week. They looked perfect on her but my guess is she weighs about 95 lbs, with my 5'8" frame, I can assure you I don't weigh anything close to 95 pounds.

The second issue, colored jeans need to be paired with the right look and shoes. I actually don't love them with black shoes unless they are light weight shoes (check the Victoria Beckman image - I think that's Victoria isn't it?).

Third issue: pastels are out for me, just not flattering.
these jewel tone skinnies look adorable with these shoes
I think red is my favorite color
Royal blue  jeans are cute too. They have a similar look to these at Target right now! I think I may opt for an inexpensive pair, that way when I tire of them, I haven't spent a bundle.
This entire outfit is perfect!
Again my argument against pastel. These look cute on Cameron but would look very scary on me.

inspired

I'm currently working on a college aged girl's bedroom right now. I swung by the house this morning to view the paint swatches on the wall! Here's my inspiration for the space, it's going to be warm grey, black, light grey and shades of pink! We're going with pale pink on the walls! Timeless! Happy Weekend Everyone!

New Home - Room of the Week

So as most of my followers know I'm planning to move within the next 7 months or so. I may have to rent a place first but I hope to buy a cottage by the sea within the next year or so! It's a goal and I'm going to make it happen! Any way, I thought I'd begin to share some ideas with you. Most will be design boards for the rooms. I have no idea what the space is like, but I'm clipping and storing images for inspiration! (How did I survive without Pinterest?) Designers (and maybe even you) are are addicted to photos of wonderful spaces, in case you didn't know this ;) !

I'm loving the soft, sophisticated look of these two images for my daughter Emerson's bedroom. That leopard rug is insane, I love it and need to locate it asap! The Ikat bedding is from Annette Tatum. and if it comes in a queen size, I may have to just scoop it up for my room. Happy Thursday! xx

Jules Reid at home

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Jules Reid's story in Matchbook Magazine this month. As busy mother (i'm not sure if a man lives in this house, but it doesn't really look like it) and business owner myself it was refreshing to read about how this very talented lady made amazing things happen for herself! Her home and gorgeous clothing line are equal parts chic + whimsical! I've been keeping an eye open for a little cottage for myself and little ones. It's nice to see such a quaint, warm, welcoming, causal home in print!
This emerald leather vest is amazing, as is her outdoor porch!

I'm loving the quadrille wallpaper and her necklace in this colorful shot.

Her entire outfit is adorable. I think I need to get my hands on her purple and orange dress, very David Hicks inspired indeed!
Same name and initials as moi?? I think I need these jewelry boxes in my life someday soon!

Reader ?

A number of you asked me where this fabulous bag was from. It "was" available from this site, unfortunately it has sold out! booo. It's adorable. Via Luce and Alati - it also came in purple.

dinner at Windsor's

I loved paging through the Dinner at Windsor's segment in this month's Veranda Magazine, click here for her delicious looking recipes. Windsor's home and style beautifully integrate both feminine and classic details!
Ralph Lauren's: bone black on the walls. I hope to be moving in the next six month or so! While shopping at the design center yesterday my assistant asked if I'd change things up a bit in my new place? My answer: Of course!! I'll be pulling ideas all Spring and arranging them in a "new home" folder on my Pinterest account.  If I have a dining room, I'm thinking I would like to paint the walls either a deep navy blue or a rich charcoal. I'm loving navy and gray lately. We picked a beautiful color palette for one of my latest clients at the Boston Design Center yesterday!! I always feel like a kid in a candy shop when I pour through all "our" found fabric samples!!

Beautiful crystal, silver trays, wonderful food, wine and flowers? You can't go wrong with a perfect bar set up like this one when entertaining!
I love the fabric on this camel back sofa!

back to reality

Hello, Hello! I apologize for the silence, I was taking a much needed mini-vacation to the Caribbean! (ahhh love it there). I'm officially back to reality but I'm still dreaming a little. I've decided that for my semi-retirement in about 27 years I'd like to own a little villa some place. I'd be very happy if it looked a exactly like this. I would of course extend an open invite to family and friends! It would also be for rent when I wasn't escaping for a couple of months during the winter!! A girl can dream right?? I'd better start my "cottage account" today! Hope your winter is going well, it feels like Spring is just around the corner in Boston today!

This beautiful "cottage" is located in the Bahamas and is by designer Tom Scheerer. (I think it may even be his vacation place). I'm sure you've caught a glimpse of it before but it's amazing, so I thought I'd share it again. I love all Tom's "beach" projects.

Limed wood perfection!
