How Sweet...

My posts may be a on the quick side for the next few weeks, between my new baby and my active two year old, I am a bit on the busy side...thank god for Sesame Street..

So I don't know about the old wives tales and pregnancy, but my sweet tooth was insane with this pregnancy. I'm scared to even think about stuffing myself back into my jeans again. I honestly consumed enough hot fudge sundaes to last me a lifetime. The crazy thing is, the cravings haven't slowed down; I still love all things sweet. I'm smitten with pretty colors and feminine design details. I guess that's to be expected right?

I just adore Ruthie Sommer's ice-cream parlor inspired breakfast nook design! The Saarinen table, the classic white chairs, the bright linen upholstery in a rainbow of colors, the chocolate stripes, the light pink paint accents.. sweet perfection.

I'll get to the important details first...I was blessed with a healthy little girl on Thursday, 1.21.10. We are overjoyed and of course over-tired...Her name is Emerson Elizabeth and she's just perfect. Thank you for all your sweet and caring comments; they were quite nice to read from my hospital bed! I now have girlie, girlie, girlie things on my mind..here are some of my current favorites...

My bags are packed....

I'll keep this short and sweet since I'm leaving for the hospital to have my baby {eek} in about twenty minutes. First off, thank you for all your kind messages, baby name suggestions and well wishes over the past week! I appreciate every one of them!!

Secondly, I thought I'd leave you with a little eye candy while I'm gone...I don't know about you, but I am definitely a bit weary of the over the top "Hollywood Regency" look.. What never grows old though is a sense of fabulous, sophisticated style. The home pictured below is the epitome of chic but still contains a sense of calm, order and fun! If it's a boy...

So the "big" week is here..I'm having my baby at the end of this week. I'm of course, a bundle of energy and nerves. I wanted to share my baby boy ideas..I simply can't wait to find out what we are having gender wise..oh and please do feel free to share your favorite boy names in the comment section. I have three girl names I adore but we're having a tough time finalizing our boy names..

My creative starting point for the room was this painting shown above along with vintage nautical references. I don't love thematic rooms so I tried not too push it too far in that direction. I will mix in a number of various elements but the overall concept was boating and the sea!

This third board represents a mix of paintings and drawings I found on eBay. I am going to hang a salon art wall with a number of boating inspired paintings..I like the quirkiness of this mix!

A cheery space on a snowy Monday...

I know Sabrina Linn's home has been posted before, but I enjoy looking at amazing spaces again + again because I tend to notice something new every time. I love this loft's mix of high/low, old/ new, and refined/rustic. It's unexpected, fun and lived in.. Isn't exactly that the way a home should be?

Friday Finds..Blank Walls?

I love adding a diverse selection of art to my home. I don't have an unlimited budget so sometimes a fabulous print works really well!...If you agree, you've got to check out Wall Blank, it's a printing company that sells new prints daily in limited quantise. Here's a sample from their vault! Sadly most of these are still not available but they update their selection regularly.

I'm just loving oversized floral photographic prints lately!!

Project Sneak Peek

Isn't this finial gorgeous?
I love transforming furniture..It's a very important part of the creative process for me! I have a great set of craftspeople lined up who help turn my ideas into reality. Here is a snapshot of one of my latest project pieces for a client. It is a vintage Chippendale chair. We had it sprayed and sealed to match a turquoise necklace I happening to be wearing the day of our design meeting! I love the details of this chair, the finial, the color the, final seat fabric. I was very happy with the end result, as was my client! (which is the most important part of my job!) Be sure to check out my website in a few weeks. I am going to include a section that actually sells some of my vintage transformations and along with a small custom furniture line...eeek..I'm very excited about it..

This wall covering is simply amazing isn't it? It comes in a number of colors and is part of the Osborne and Little vintage collection!

Feeling Inspired - Spring Florals Trend..

It's been very, very chilly in Boston {all over a good deal of the U.S. actually}. I like to cozy down by a fire and fly down a slope now and then, but I'm really a warm weather girl at heart! I don't have any travel plans this winter so I often day dream about the sunny + warm Spring days ahead. I'm currently loving that flowers are popping up everywhere for Spring 2010!
