How inspiring..

I love all things LuLu Dk and these gorgeous hand painted butterflies by the amazingly talented Lulu are NO exception. I envision using a spattering of these on a wall behind a headboard or maybe in a powder room with a brightly colored lacquered ceiling {yum}!
Check out Lulu's blog here! Happy Friday. I'll try and post more next week..life has been crazy and the sleep deprivation is rough lately. -J

Sunny Side Up..

{be sure to check out Elva Fields new Spring collection. swoon.}

the weather report in Boston is looking grim for the next few days...I'm counting the days till Spring {although it doesn't truly warm up here until May} but at least we're heading in that direction! I find yellow so uplifting, I prefer to use hints of this color rather then swathe an entire room in the hue!
I've long admired the Darryl Carter room {image 1} pictured. I have a photo of the entire room someplace, if I find it, I'll post it. The yellow painting was actually the impetus for one I created in my own home. {will post soon}. That fabulous pop of yellow is the perfect backdrop for such a glamorous chandelier!

I cannot lie, I'm so loving little girl clothes right now..

I drink tea daily, and just finished up a tea that came in a tin...I was going to recycle it and use the container for "generic" tea bags..then I happened upon this photo. I like this idea much better. Have a wonderful weekend.

Thank you, Thank you

I wanted to thank you all for your kind comments on my "ongoing home design". I truly appreciate each and everyone of my readers!! I also wanted to list some of the sources that you asked for..My home is a mix of vintage and new. I always have to keep a budget in mind and splurge on my absolute "have to have" favorites. Oh and if you live near a Home Goods they just received a great selection of lamps {a weakness for me}. I bought the one pictured below, it's hand made porcelain. I just loved the intricate details..It's either going to my daughter's nursery, which I need to start working on, or my master bedroom!

Sources:
Foyer: Mirror - White Coral Mirror - Ballard Designs
Black console - vintage, I painted it black and replaced the hardware - Muffs Hardware {beware include the word hardware, I made that mistake}

Living Room:
White Chairs - Pottery Barn
Vases - Vintage
Paint Color - Dorian Gray - C2. It's a light grey with aqua undertones, very soothing.

Office:
Paint Color - Chocolate - Clinton Brown, Benjamin Moore
Foo Dogs - Via Ebay from an Asian store in San Francisco
Rug- Seagrass - from SisalRugs.com - they have great prices

Dining Room:
Mirror - I found this on the side of the road and painted it black {i'm a sucker for road side finds..}
Chair - Vintage- covered in Coral Velvet Fabric. I also painted the legs white and added the over sized nailheads.
Lamps - Home Goods
Gurgling Cod - Sherve, Crump and Low
Paint Color - I just painted this..{well my husband did actually} Turquoise Mist - Benjamin Moore. It's the perfect mix of green and blue.

Dreaming of..

stealing a moment in a warm sunny place..It's about this time of year {every year} that I start to get the winter blahs.....I love the retro feel of the pink umbrella above. In fact I love almost all of Santa Barbara Designs umbrella's..

I would love to have a beach bungalow in a place like the Bahamas someday! I imagine my space would be fresh, clean and "under decorated". {think Tom Scheerer's beach spaces} {isn't day dreaming fun?}

The pure simplicity of this gorgeous outdoor dining spot is magical!

Sneak Peek - Snapshots of my home!

I've received a number emails over the past few months asking to see some images of my own home! Let me begin by saying it's a work in progress. As most designers can attest, I can conceptualize a client's home down to the smallest detail but when it comes to my own home I {as my friend Erin from Elements of Style says} I have design A.D.D.! I know the cause, I LOVE so many styles and objects; it's so hard to choose one direction for my own space or even two for that matter! I'll share more photos when the rooms are completed! I'm focusing on the living and dining rooms now {when I can grab a moment here and there ;) that is...}. Happy Monday!

Cozy Chic..

I'm loving ALL things organic and cozy lately. Jennifer Aniston's home in March's issue of Architectural Digest is no exception! The two year renovation turned out a welcoming, uber- stylish home with just the right amount of old Hollywood Glamour! LOVE..............it.

Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?

If you haven't seen this movie,I highly recommend it. The story, the fashion, the set design, the chemistry between Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy {enough alone - their life time love affair spanned their careers}, the level of acting..It's all truly inspiring. I watched it for the first time this week and absolutely adored it. It's a charming love story with a poignant message!

I love Katherine Hepburn's sense of style. It's timeless, she drapes scarfs over everything she wears in this movie.

Where I'd like to...

Relax with a book and a "tall" cocktail!

My life has been a little {okay A LOT} hectic lately. What I wouldn't do for a good night sleep right about now..I'm not complaining, I'm over the moon about my new baby but a minute of down time would be wonderful! This room is so serene. I'm loving the limed floors {a refreshing trend} and the classically modern white architectural details of this room. It's clean, clutter less and peaceful!

POW...

Need a winter blues pick me up? Introduce Valentine's Day inspired color to your wardrobe or home! I'm loving all things red and white striped and pops of pink lately! Or simply combine the two.

This adorable striped sweater is available at The Gap!
