Shelter Loves 2.23.13

Good Morning, thought I'd sneak in a Saturday edition of "Shelter Loves" today. I'm obviously admiring all things Oscar inspired this week. Including this stunning but intriguing photo by Terry O'Neil of Faye Dunaway the morning after winning an Oscar in 1977 for Network.

"She isn't sure quite who she is any more. I waited for her to look away from the camera, and I got the shot. I look at this picture often, and I'm still so proud of it. It's still the best Oscar picture ever taken. And modern photographers should take that as a challenge."  - Terry O'Neil

2. You really can't go wrong with a classic black heel a la Faye Dunaway. They're timeless.

3. I'm attending a fund raising Gala next week. I'm looking forward to dressing up for a night on the town, ;). After I spend the day on book work today, ugh, I'm running out to find a pair of statement earrings like these emerald stunners.

4. Do you drink champagne? I do. This oversized bucket would look beautiful filled with chilled bubbly. I'd love to have an Oscar party some day, maybe when the kiddies are older.

5. I dream of having an entrance like this... I'd splash a little color on the front door, although the all white scheme is pretty.

6. NEVER!

7. I adore this sweet little straw clutch, it comes in natural and turquoise too.

I'm going to try and head to an Oscar nominated movie tonight! Did you have a favorite this year? I watched the classic Here Comes Mr. Jordan, 1941 last night. It won two academy awards. My goal is to watch 13 classic movies in 2013. I'm on number 3!

Happy Weekend! xx

Of note and to do

I previously posted about Mario Testino's "In Your Face" fashion photography exhibition back in September. I hope to make it to this fabulous show this month. (the back drop paint color is great - I just used something similar in a small powder room). I'm also hoping that they're selling prints of some of his photographs. I definitely want to incorporate a new and vintage fashion photo wall into my new digs when I move.....I just finished up a photo shoot this am. It's kind of fun playing model for the camera. ;)
The Mario Testino exhibit runs through February 3, 2013 at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.

Inspired - Mario Testino

I love photography! In fact it's on my bucket list to someday take a class and learn more about this art form. I'm very much looking forward to the Mario Testino exhibit at the MFA in Boston this Fall. He's such a creative and influential force. (read more below) It opens on 10.21. I always feel a bit anxious this time of year. The past two Fall seasons have been ones of drastic change and heartbreak for me. I'm focusing on the positive and hoping this Fall will be quite the opposite and turn out amazing. I'm moving from my home, so on that front a big change is in store. This exhibit will definitely be a positive to look forward to. In fact I think I may use some of his work as a starting point and design concept for my new place. (which I need to find, something else causing me a bit of trepidation)

And to all of you who got your kiddies off to school for their first day today, hope it went well!!!

I'm looking forward and remembering: "let your faith be bigger then your fear" and everything will turn out okay!! even better then okay!

I would love to have one of his fashion photographs in my home!

Inspired - Jean Randazzo

Good photography plays such a key role in capturing a designers overall vision. I love discovering and perusing photographer's sites. Jean Randazzo has a great eye. All of her compositions are beautifully composed and layered. She also has the ability to capture the luminescent qualities of natural light. I spy a number of designer's here, don't you?

The following day...

Can you even begin to imagine how it would feel to win an oscar?  Often times I admire the lives of the rich and famous, although I'm not sure how happy a person can be living in a world without privacy. {maybe I could get used to it} What do you think about last night's results? It's fun, if only for a few hours to be swept away with "their" world.

 The above photograph of Faye Dunaway was taken in 1977 by photographer Terry O'Neil, Dunaway's then long time boyfriend. Dunaway is relaxing by the pool at The Beverly Hills Hotel the day after she won the oscar for best leading actress in The Network.
What do you think is running through her mind?

While I'm on the topic of Terry O'Neil, I thought I'd share, a fabulous photo of Brigitte Bardot. The first shot is the original photograph by O'Neil, below is the image blown up in a private residence! I would love to incorporate one oversized photograph by a famous photographer into my home design someday.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I had an amazing time on girl's weekend in New York this past weekend, although two days is never enough. I've decided that I WILL live in NYC for at least a year at some point in my life. It may be in 20 years, but I will do it!
I hope you enjoy your Valentine's Day! This will be my first one solo in a LONG time but I'm going to be thankful for all the love in my life; especially the sweetest of all, my children. Enjoy!

I'm doing anything I can to mentally escape this frigid winter and the five feet of snow outside my window. I thought I would share some random pink prettiness.

- I love everything about this photo of Jackie O. - The color scheme is very close to my daughter's room. {which I'm slowly finishing}  I also love the quality of light in this image.
- The second image is sort of the direction I am heading in for my own feminine retreat.
- Lastly, words to live by - Audrey Hepburn.

Happy Weekend.

warm and fuzzy

{would this not look adorable framed in a bedroom? - I'll let you know what i find}

My plan was to post something entirely different today but I awoke to a beautiful three inches of snow.  I love the power of an image. I try to begin my day on a positive note, these images certainly set the tone for me today! This time of year is so magical isn't it? {aside from the craziness}
