Day dreaming..

This morning I was transported to an idyllic farmhouse located in Bridgehampton, N.Y..After walking through designer Steven Gambrel's Sag Harbor residence, the couple was hooked and decided to hire him for the project. They wanted to create the welcoming cozy environment of Steven's homes but honor the original soul of the structure.  The home built in 1840, went through an array of additions and Steven brought on a team to revamp the entire interior. Pale neutrals, classic lines and a hint of bohemian pattern in the family room add a younger touch. The recently added pool and a green house dining pavilion inspired by Ilse Crawford's design at the Ett Hem hotel in Stockholm is a beautiful addition. I hope you enjoy touring this home as much as I did. All images are from the May 2017 edition of Elle Decor

contrasted neutrals for the modernist + traditionalist

A neutral color palette can soar when layered with touches of color, lots of textures and interesting objects. I recently came across two homes in Architectual Digest, each individual and quite contrasted in style. The first, a modern home located in the hills of California by designer Emily Summers, the second is Suzanne Kasler's classic regency style home and property in Atlanta, Georgia. I am loving the quality of light and sculptural feel of the furniture in each of these homes. The landscaping, though very different, also beautifully and cohesively compliments the interiors (and vice versa).
This is an amazing little powder room.
The outdoor space is a beautiful extension of the indoors. I would live in this room!
I adore this yellow sofa and the dining light fixture!

I never tire of classic white kitchens!
Gorgeous!

The outdoor spaces and patio are STUNNING on the property of Suzanne Kasler's home!!

Cottage Love

As most of you know I'm planning to move within the next six months or so. (fingers crossed) This is exciting and scary on a number of levels. I don't have a huge budget for a home but I believe if I find a little house I can make it a beautiful spot for my children and me! I'd like it to be small in scale, and near the ocean. Any of these homes would be perfect! I've been holding on to the top image for years now and below is my newest favorite. I adore L.A. style bungalows or sweet cape styles that were built in the 40's-60's. Happy Friday!
This is my newest favorite!!

House Hunter

As many of you know my plan is to move within the next 10 months {give or take a few}. I want to downsize, and buy a small home close to the ocean. {that is my dream anyway}. I figure what's life without dreams? I truly believe, with hard work and determination, dreams can come true! Sometimes the best way to discover homes for sale is on a Sunday drive. I did just that this past Sunday. I'm not sure where I'm going to live but my "wish list" currently includes three towns, two north of Boston and one on the South Shore. I came across this little gem.{ and later found it featured on HGTV. com } It's charming, clean and on a corner lot. What more could a designer ask for? I would layer, and add all sorts of amazing ideas to this interior. Oh, and thanks for all your well wishes for my three year old son. I hope he makes a speedy recovery.
